It really feels like they made this without even thinking of a structure. They already knew it was gonna make a shit ton of money so they adapted it scene by scene which is probably great if you want to entertain the audience because it's a bunch of hype moments and aura, but it's horrible if you want to make a satisfying movie. Starting the movie off with Akaza's past would have properly set up the emotional core of the movie, in retrospect it's weird that he just appears out of nowhere then dominates the entire movie from then on. Leaving Kanao hanging feels weird.
