>>282296727This season honestly was nothing special, it was way too sequel-heavy and I had zero interest in most continuing shows. I ended up dropping most of everything. There were some interesting anime here and there but to me the obvious standout was CITY. Summer is typically a weak season, so it is what it is. Fall, however, usually is a strong season, but judging by the season charts, I'm just not feeling it at all. Hope I'm wrong.

Piss poor season and you're right, Fall looks even worse. 2024 had a lot more interesting releases all year round. I've generally tried to keep up with 5 shows a season but man, it's getting real tough to suffer through some of this garbage and I'm someone with incredibly low standards. I look back on the charts for even 2022 and the disparity in quality is amazing. The industry is going down the drain rapidly before our very eyes.

I actually dropped Water Magician because I had already read the manga prior and the anime didn't fix the horrendous pacing at all, so I knew this would be a season that would go nowhere, plus I'm certain they won't renew it for a second season. I didn't get into Grand Blue because it's way too dude bro for me, though I suppose it's a nice Summer watch if it's your thing.To me, Ruri no Houseki is a brilliant show if you're into that kind of anime about girls doing niche activities, and it also helps that it has extraordinary production value. I also enjoy Karou no Hana even though it's romance slop, though I wouldn't recommend it to most people because it is what it is. Karaoke Iko was a great watch with friends, and it's only 4 episodes long manga adaptation. Though by far the greatest thing to air this season was CITY, genuinely mindblowing anime that is constantly firing on all cylinders at all times. Other than that, Summer season was mostly guilty pleasures for me.If you skipped on Ruri no Houseki, give it a chance and see if it's your thing. But I would consider CITY obligatory watch to any genuine anime fan.
