What do you think when a character (even a secondary) undergoes a dramatic design change but the story acts like it never happened?Ever saw it yourself?I don't have a good eye for detail, but on re-read it was funny to see in Umi no Misaki that the little sister goes from looking like she is 14-15 to 10-12. (Left and Right)It makes sense in the story for (spoiler reasons) and if they ever made it into anime she would have the design on the right from the start, but is bizarre.Look at how tall she is compared to those shelves and her glasses.>hard more: beside having a bigger chest
>>282300870Depends on how dramatic the change is. If it's as slight as in your picture, I don't really care, it's just the author finetuning the design. If it's as brazen as Funny Valentine it comes across as incredibly jarring.

>>282300870Authors trend towards simplifying the designs so drawing is faster. Or they become better artists (see Oh my goddess initial chapters) or gain/lose assistants. It's usually not part of the story, it would be 4th wall breaking if the characters noticed.Over all it doesn't bother me.
I always enjoy time skips and seeing how everyone has changed. Betting who will look better or worse
