I mostly like the series but it seems to do a lot of what other generic fantasy manga/anime does.Like on one side the main character is definitely one of the strongest character we see in the series but not in a way that I would call him op and it actually makes sense considering his age and how long he as been training/training others, but then it does the whole 'the church is the real bad guys' thing and it also has a mainly female cast where they obsessed over him (not as bad as other manga but still).

>>282322798The thing is that his dad is a crazy strong swordsman and he learned from him. Also, he did hunt monsters in the forest fairly regularly and I believe that they were considered to be fairly high level monsters at that.

This manga is the proof that even the most basic story can be good with the right presentation. And it also helps that Sensei is an actual character instead of some half-baked self insert like in the anime
