Vergil as a playable character in DMC4 and 5 is a quintessential aura farmer example, by virtue of having a gameplay mechanic where he grows stronger by standing still in the middle of a fight without being hit and just "looking hella cool and badass", which incentivises the player to mess around with the enemy instead of killing them instantly.
