Why isn't pixel art used as a valid art form outside of videogames, like mangas and comics?

We had sprite comics back in the dayIt ended because it's just a way for lazy artists to make fanfics

if mangaka were just moving sprites around they'd put out a dozen chapters per week. no one would keep up with such a series.
Pixel art is sometimes used.
pixel art sure can implement anime aesthetics well. i've never seen a whole manga use it though. maybe because manga is usually [citation needed] drawn on paper and pixel art is by and large a digital medium.
