So we can agree that the general premise of this arc is pretty good, right? Giving Sakura a fight since she missed out on most of Part 1, introducing Sasori and Deidara who are both interesting Akatsuki members, and having Gaara be the first jinchuuriki we see killed is a good way to set up the stakes of Part 2. The pacing wasn't great and Gaara being immediately revived cheapens his death and sets a bad precedent for Pain to also revive the characters he killed, but I didnt read the Pain arc so I can't judge that. How would you have changed the first arc of Part 2?

Almost nothing so far has made sense.The only redeeming factors are Chiyo and Sasori, but surely they could have been brought into the story without a storm of bullshit surrounding them.The fixes here are obvious. Akatsuki sends a serious force after Gaara that forces him to leave the village to lure them away. Multiple Akatsuki attack together, and he is forced to use Shukaku. Pick your favorite way for Akatsuki to beat Shukaku, maybe have a sneak attack from one of Pain's paths to tease the reader about his powers. Kankuro and Temari are in hot pursuit, but Kankuro gets poisoned and Temari is forced to flee with him. Sakura makes an actual antidote, not some water bending bullshit. Temari joins the rescue mission, and she's the one in denial seeing Gaara's body, instead of Naruto, who is livid but controls himself out of respect for her and Gaara. Deidara is still injured and Temari is a hard counter, so he takes the opportunity to escape while she is in shock. That catches us up to where we are.
