Some good, some mediocre, and some bad. It is very dated with 90s aesthetics, and the aesthetic course change into the current timeline is very visible in production value and pacing. The only recommendations is will give is watch Universe first, follow by Tenchi Muyo in Love and Tenchi Muyo in Love 2. The first 2 Ryo-Ohki OVAs collections if you crave anymore material they were derived from. Very good soundtrack, and production value.You can continue watching more if you desire in caring how the story progresses with Ryo-Ohki past the 2nd OVA series. There is a crap load of supplemental material that was not made available in the following decade of the continuation to the Western fan base. Mostly from LN readings, and some specific doujins that do not matter.

As it was not called Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki when I was buying the VHS tapes back in the 90s. There was Tenchi Muyo "Televised/Anime" and Tenchi Muyo "OVA/Original Video Animations". Legally distinct now because of creative differences between multiple show production crew members who all had a part in the creation.It's very messy, and very stupid.

In my day you take what you can get. Most would rather buy english dubbed to try and get other friends into anime along with that. Try doing that with reading poor quality bootlegs on crt tvs. Only the most autismo purists would suffer for that kind of headache to feel niche` in their hobby.The truth is there were plenty of horrid dubbing companies just shoving them out in droves because it is easier to take a piece of that foreign market import pie in the states. Companies like ADV, Pioneer, and Manga Corps tried to do better with unionized voice acting guilds and in house talents. A lot of those voice overs worked in video game voice work once Playstation and Dreamcast came to the states.
