It is kind of hilarious that the last time we see Anko in this show is in a scene where they use her feeling lonely and miserable as a punchline, despite the series investing practically this entire season in how her ten-year-long depression turned her into a suicidal mess of a person (we even had a trigger warning).
Pretty solid season, in my opinion. They cut some of the superfluous content in the manga in favor of a tighter, more focused narrative that makes the core story truly shine. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of what comes after this point in the manga, I hope we eventually get a third season. There are dozens of vampire series out there (hell, pic related will air next month) but there's nothing else with this kind of atmosphere and personality.

Which season had a better finale?
I'm conflicted.From one side, I think this season clears season1 in the visual part. Except some of the blood sucking scene that were insane in s1, everything else looks better in s2, character designs in particular are all sharper on top of feeling closer to kotoyama's pencil rough artstyle. I also like that they developped the side cast more because they all looked like interesting character since their introduction and anko is genuinely the most entertaining character in the show, by a long shot.On the other hand this really doesn't feel like "yofukashi" no uta anymore. Like half the runtime are flashbacks and when you take into account the midori episode and this last episode which is basically empty, kou and nazuna never really were fucking around at night which is supposed to be the very concept of the story. I don't even think their romance is the best part of the story (definitely not the anime) but their romance is the driving force of the story and here they felt secondary to kabura and anko during the whole season.I also don't get why the first 2 episodes were so focused on seki and introducing kiku if they fucked off to never return for the rest of the show. Considering they deliberately cut content why wouldn't they cut this as well if they don't intent to keep on adapting the manga, there were great scenes but definitely not useful.Between Kiku, Kabura and Anko, this season was truly made for and by hag lovers with how much they occupy the story now compared to last season.Legit just hagsex/10

Only watched the first season, got sick of the premise (muh "how do you fall in love") being drawn into absurdity. Its retarded to start with, unless they made the character legit schizoid, but he's not. He's a standard issue generic self-insert who wants everyone to be happy and get along. The amount of disbelief you have to suspend to enjoy a show like this is just ridiculous I don't know how any of you do it. I never thought I'd say this but since its such a pathetic knock-off of it, it really makes Bakemonogatari look competent and consistent in comparison.

Season 1 was a B+, nice show, season 2 was a C+ at best, maybe a flat C.Poor pacing, no development of "when will Kou fall in love" (whole thing was out on ice for the entire season), Kou schoolmates the girl and boy were ignored (it was pathetic when we got one or two callbacks to them the entire season), 80% of the season was the detective which was kind of okay at times but it's not why we signed on to this show.The trademark "flying the the purple night with synth wave" scenes were obviously pasted on and not organic, unlike the first season.Only pleasant surprise was that Creepy Nuts unbelievably made just as good music for this season as the first one. Those guys rock.

the pacing only felt off because they skipped like 4-5 episodes worth of chapters to conclude the detective arc, without making too many changes to the overall story. it felt a bit rushed, still a solid 9/10 and probably top 2 or 3 anime this year. the studio has adapted a style similar to Shaft but somehow still their own, and it works very well for this show. Creepy Nuts involvement with this show also elevates it for many who would have otherwise not checked it out.
