Any Gundam recs if I want more of it? I don't mind other /m/ or action genre. Araiguma Rascal feels like a weaker, uneven production but still a solid WMT experience so far, with its own unique personality. I like being transported to another time, with flawed but likable characters and realistic drama seen through their daily life. This one in particular being based on the author's childhood may be what gives it a more natural feel. And the focus on Rascal is very much appreciated and linked to the themes of the show.

Last thread, I mentioned how I had watched Sigma and was on Baldios, and now I have finished Baldios(' TV anime) and have moved onto the next 1980s (technical) mecha work, Tetsuwan Atom (1980).Baldios would be way better without 33 and 34 by the way. I know they weren't part of the broadcast, but they really do feel like something only released to link up with the movie.

A lot of it feels kind of formulaic. First five episodes are amazing, then it slows down to standard mecha anime shenanigans outside of the Aphrodia episodes, picks up in the two parter, slows down again, and really finds its foot around episode 23 (especially 25 and 26, really good stuff for mecha of that period), and then it gets cancelled.I actually do love the TV ending where it just goes "Yep, they lost", and it isn't stated directly but enough clues are given to draw the S-1 connection (33 and 34 would go on to directly state this, which is fine, but again, those episodes were haphazardly converted into an ending, they were just cut out entirely). Feels very Ideon TV, though not as good.
