Why do so many mangaka have bad health and die early?
inside for 12 hours a day hunched over in a dark room shrimp necking drawing while not eating well
>>282427686boobs
>>282427697The working conditions can't be that bad.
>>282427686Did he really?
>>282427686Did he really die?
>>282427686Wait, what? No fucking way
>>282427773>>282427780Fraid so
He hasn't posted on his Twitter in a minute he might really be gonezo
>>282427858FuckF
>>282427686High sodium diet, lack of exercise, and being over worked
A weekly release schedule is inhumane.
>>282427686who died
>>282427686Wait, really?
>>282427858No comment from the publisher, no death notice anywhere online or otherwise, February will be two years since the last post/chapter and they did mention being fucked up at the time
>>282427930Actually insane. Free time only on a saturday and only a lunch prior to that. No wonder they have no good defenses against common things like the flu.
>>282427958>2 yearsjesus fuck I swear the noticed went up like 3 months ago
>>282427747they're not that bad on their own but the time commitment and general unhealthy lifestyle people often have means they can lead to compounding issues
>>282427686The weekly schedule is pure hell. If you're overworked, eat like shit, get no sunlight and potentially not showering then you're going to get sick relatively often
>>282427686Personal trainer that lived in Japan for a stint here, in addition to their natural urge to work themselves to death the Japanese diet is lacking in vital proteins needed to maintain a healthy body. Add on top of this that unless you play some kinda sport, most Japs work out like geriatrics (walking, light weight meme exercises, weight bands) this is fine if you're a retiree with tons of time on your hands, but most don't even do this and basic fitness knowledge isn't widely known beyond shit like "eato zuh hearthy miso so you can rive rong rong time and put in more work." They might appear healthy to burgerland lardos but under the hood they're a whole different kinda fucked up.
>>282428054I thought the "healthy" diets and exercises fads were just a meme on manga and shit then I read some stuff about a girl on jp xitter almost getting a intestinal blockage because she had too much psyllium I think
>>282427686>random smut mangaka diedliterally who cares
>>282428054I dunno Japan is pretty well known for long life expectancy, my aunt was just talking yesterday about how she heard Japan has 95,000 supercentarians That's a lot, so whatever they're doing must be working for a pretty good percentage of them. If anyone's dying early in japan it doesn't seem to be ten fault of Japan culture, but rather something else (like being a mangaka)
>>282427686Tbf it probably would've devolved into some cucked shit like most hag romance stories
>>282427697I-it's not?
>>282428194I care. You on the other hand can die in his place
>>282428229>it doesn't seem to be ten fault of Japan culture, but rather something else (like Japanese work culture)
>>282428020I would assume they're still around but fucked up, usually word gets out even when old/inactive industry people randomly die, an active mangaka with at least one semi-successful previous work dying would be notable
>>282427930Honestly, this is a pretty old example. It would be interesting to see how mangaka handle weekly publication nowadays. Surely digital drawing help streamline the process, as does he number and skill of assistants.
>>282428480You'd be surprised. Even a lot of artists definitely born in the digital era still do a lot of shit on paper, for example Nekoguchi does his actual manga work entirely on paper
>>282427697It's the not eating and sleeping that kills people. Sitting in the dark for 12 hours a day only gives you bad eyesight and poor posture.
>>282428185Psyllium fiber is marketed as a weight loss supplement over there so I wouldn't be surprised
Who cares, faggot?
>>282428265Her being used goods was pretty much a given. But she was hot, and even her mom was also very hot, so MC had the chance of his life
>>282427686No sleep because of harsh deadlines
>>282429381Man I really wanted a chapter with her mom:(
>>282429482
>>282429511My god we were deprived :'((((((
>>282429546
>>282430486
>>282427932Anon is speculating since his porn artist hasn't put anything out in two years
>>282427697damn I didn't know I was a mangaka
>>282427686I wonder if people even realize that we don't know for sure if Oda will be able to complete OP.
>>282431332Toriyama up and dying seemed to scare the shit out of him, he seems to be putting a lot more care into his health these days
>>282427686Because people demand weekly updates and 30 pages a chapter and completely lose their shit if the plot goes in a direction they don't like. And that's from a country that considers patience and discipline a virtue.
>>282431350That's good to know.
>>282427747They are even worse. Lack of sleep, stress and bad eating habits are guaranteed way to die in your 50s.
Nobody forces them to turn in at a weekly magazine. If they do, they give them assistants so they can complete their work. It's an autistic craft but it's not necessarily deadly grueling. It comes down to the individual's habits
>>282428054>why do people who literally work themselves to death in physically and psychically abject conditions fall over so much earlier>actually it's because they're not proteinmaxxing and doing 5/3/1 like me and all the retards who are gonna croak from either cardiac or renal failurewell, wouldn't ya know
>>282427686the author wasn't even working in weekly schedule, hell this manga is in a biweekly magazine but I remember even when it wasn't on hiatus it kept skipping 1 edition for each new chapter so dude basically had a monthly serialization. dude was already falling apart before this hiatus.
I hope nihei's modern style lets him be healthy.
>>282427686No sleep.
>>282432735I guess I won't live long.
>>282432735>Died at 93SleepCHADs win again.
>>282432735Sleep is as crucial for us as food or water. Lack of sleep causes memory loss, fatigue, slow mental processing, development of Alzheimer's, all kinds of physical health problems like heart diseases, high blood pressure, stroke, etc.Lack of sleep is also a huge source of depression and the general inability to enjoy things.Don't pass on sleeping AND sleeping at reasonable times, not during the day.
>>282432015how’s the schedule of biweekly authors?
>>282427930your iq isn't above 70 if you genuinely believe this chart
You’d think big time mangaka would do what Araki did and switch to monthly. Surely guys like Fujimoto, Oda, and Togashi have leeway to do so. Art would improve as well. Once Oda got hospitalized and then had eye surgery, the weekly strain caught up to him and scribble piece was born. He switched to thicker line art. Fujimoto did the same
>>282433319to add to this, a big p[art of this is sleep qualitytake it from someone with a mega deviated septum, the brainfog and forgetfulness without a CPAP is intenseand then there's fragmented sleep because of people making too much noise and waking up because of random things
I miss her so much
>>282427697Thankfully some authors take good care of their health.
>>282428054So the highest life expectancy thing is what...a fluke? They can't be THAT unhealthy.I also have strong doubts a fucking personal trainer posts on /a/.
AI solves the hours-hunched-over-a-drawing-desk-getting-carpel-tunnel-syndrome-while-slowly-deteriorating-due-to-poor-diet-and-sleep problem.
>>282433652This guy's setup is insanely elaborate, It's like he's drawing on a fighter's jet cockpit
>>282429381I just hate that this type tends to bring back the ex for volumes of drama, more than her not being a virgin
>>282433652So healthy his stuff is getting shittier
>>282432735>>282433319Genuinely probably the biggest reason for japanese poor health, and in this particular case artists who don't care about it.
>>282427686Karma
>>282427686Nips were meant to fight in wars and commit war crimes in kotei-heika's army, not sit inside and draw cartoons
