Being an anime fan is better today than it was ever before. The issue? There are too many idiots in the fanbase now. But if you can drown that out, it's absolutely better to be a fan today. So many shows, even the old shows are easier to get. etc

Being an anime fan isn't good because lots of great anime aren't getting any new fans nowadays because of them being old
>>
>>282428512
It's worse to be a fan now because [insert thing that will get me told I'm just an old grouch with nostalgia goggles]

Good the idiots won't discover them and will stick to seasonals lol. But there are thousands of shows now. You don't have to pretend saint seiya is good anymore

The most annoying fans of today are less annoying than 2000s kyoani fans.

Anime is like anything other medium, somethings are popular and somethings are niche it's been like that since it's inception, who cares.

>Drowning out the idiots
Hard to do when they're the ones who influence most creative decisions these days and they're the ones discussing anime the most when you decide to leave this depressing, pessimistic, borderline contrarian place
>So many shows, even the old shows are easier to get
They were never hard to get, piracy has always existed

Also there are many issues you've failed to mention. The ballooning costs within the industry and increasing burdens on the creatives who contribute to it due to higher expectations thanks to the bright flashing colour/explosion loving sakuga twitterfags, increasing pressures to censor works for the western puritans, shit localisations and inaccurate subtitles thanks to crunchyroll and that the reverence for anime in the west is still hypercentralised around shonenshit and isekai slop.
It's not better, it's not worse. The main problems have simply changed is all.
The issues around being an anime fan back in the day were just different in nature, like your favourite show not getting an additional season because it wasn't popular enough, your favourite manga never getting an official translation so you had to rely on people translating it who'd likely give up 3/4's through the series, a lack of censorship that'd come at the cost of being seen as a freak for openly enjoying weebshit, instead of isekai slop we had harem slop, etc.

Not even remotely. Hoodweebs exist now.

Sounds like you only watch things that attract those types of people.
It's like complaining about how film discussion is bad and then only going to the circles that discuss action heavy kids movies.
>They were never hard to get, piracy has always existed
Different today is quality and quantity, especially for broadcast shows.
People get mad about CR, but I'd rather have them sub every seasonal than leave it to the whims of fate. Half the shows I watch in a given season are the types of shows that just wouldn't get subbed at all until a year has passed (if at all, I still have shows from the 00s that I'm waiting on subs for).

The rest of your post is, again, complaining about shit that is easily avoided. You complain about reverence for shounen and isekai, but the actual issue is not that, it's that you are going to the places that discuss that. The saying goes "If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room", not "I suck cocks and need to surround myself with things I hate".
Your glorify the olden days in a way that ignores reality. You would be lucky if someone translating a manga or anime gave up 3/4s of the way through- often for anime and manga, it'd be 1-2 episodes or 1-2 volumes in. This happened all the time.
You complain about sakugafags, when that again only belays where your actual interests in anime lie if they exist at all. Plenty of shows are still getting by on minimal animation, and nobody complains about that unless it's a sequel to a series that was all about expressive animation.

it was always shit
