Is KNY's author a closet guro/ryona fan? It all started when I noticed the similarities between Akaza's backstory and a segment (Boxer) from an old Uziga Waita manga called Death Face. The stories are so similar albeit with a few key differences. For instance, Koyuki from KNY was poisoned whereas Ryou from Boxer was repeatedly violated with power tools, traffic signs, bottles and various fruits and vegetables. The underlying situation remains the same. A kind young girl falls in love with a violent delinquent. Her father teaches the delinquent how to fight. She wants the delinquent to live a peaceful life instead. Everything ends in tragedy. Did "Croc" read Uziga Waita's work and enjoy it? I believe the answer is yes.
