Why didn't L or anyone else look at old surveillance footage of Light and Misa after they touched the Death Note? If they had done so, they would have seen Rem with Misa, and later on seen Light with Ryuk, thus providing all the evidence they need.
because death note is poorly written trash, anybody with a working brain knows this
>>282432003I swear I read some kind of factoid on the 'Death Note how to use it' section which says that they aren't visible in camera recording.
>>282432461Iirc, they operate on a meta physical level where by the rules, you will be able to see them unless the meta physics block your perception. And I think there were moments where they can be seen via footage.
>>282432003Because it's not that serious, you are thinking way too hard at the series. No manga or anime is a literary masterpiece and the writers are aware as well, so if you keep poking on it you will find plotholes eventually, big deal.
>>282432461The one-shot sequel depended entirely on the plot point that Shinigami are in fact visible to cameras, the new holder of the Death Note wanted people who had touched the Death Note to see Ryuk so that they would know he has the Death Note.
>>282433094yeah, if you can see the shinigami, you can see them even on photos and videos, including retroactively
>>282432003I don't think it was ever established if Shinigami were visible in cameras until the one-shot sequel, by which point Ohba had forgotten how introducing such a concept introduces the plot hole you mentioned.
>>282435080no, it was known(to us readers and probably light) that they are visible on monitors.>>282432003because even though L is super smart, he just dealt with a completely supernatural element that completely turned his worldview upside down. He didn't consider the ins and outs of shinigami invisibility because his mind was occupied with too many other things, like to see if the 13day deathnote rule was real or not
