Who lays greater claim to being the King of the 2000's?
I'd argue both were very equal in terms of productions but if I were to pick one above the other, it'd be Kyoani, just because of Full Metal Panic.

>>282436114Obviously Shaft. You can argue about oppositions as clannad/ef or paniponi dash/nichijou(shaft still win) but Shaft has Madoka and Monogatari and there's just no competing with that
Hidamari Sketch is the best anime ever made so that gives Shaft the edge for me. Though the more Shaft anime I watch the less I sort of mesh with their direction. It worked well for Hidamari Sketch and Monogatari but for most other things I prefer their source over Shaft's anime.Kyoani doesn't even go that far for me though. I've never been a Kyoani fan really even if I can appreciate some of their works. I'll never be at the point of how people generally feel about them with all the praise I generally see.

I kind of missed the time of that argument, but now in retrospect, it really seems to me that it was mostly based on "just wait, the next KyoAni show will blow your mind and be the best thing ever!" It's such a great studio with incredible potential, which is largely unrealized
