Not only was it retconned in halfway through the series with multiple events no longer making sense, but theres also no consistency even now. CoA CoO and CoC have nothing to do with each other at all and they didn't need multiple levels of upgrades within each. It's like Oda took multiple generic powers from battle shounen and crammed them into a random structure. CoO is especially bad in regards to basically being future sight at times but then going long stretches being completely irrelevant/absent.

I don't mind the concept of mythical zoans, but I agree for their supposed rarity they've become too frequently used, and I think that started in Wano. It being near the end of the manga doesn't excuse it for me, since haki is supposedly the great equalizer. I'm also not a huge fan of zoans were given a mind of their own somehow, not sure how an inanimate fruit can affect people and the outside world like that, but I guess we will probably find out when we learn more about devil fruit origins.
