The CGI wasn't good but I think the concept of the ghouls was great. They were also sometimes scary. Demonic alien creatures with wings like the creatures from childhood's end, the old mechas with living skeletons in them, the old ruins, the ghoul ghost who visited the city, the ghoul frozen in time who communicated with Misaki.
