>Start sequel to Naruto>Has a pretty good movie that most people don't hate, showing that even if things change they stay the same, even now they're still ninja. That's supposed to be the entire point, even now they're still ninjas. Another generation moves forward while the nature of the world never changes.>People have a lot of goodwill to the series at first>You could easily just have Boruto doing the kid ninja stuff like missions, and have Naruto did the big power level shit like fighting monsters, y'know that way the series has kind of the best of both worlds a bit>Instead the new series quickly ends up entirely about space aliens>Magic fruit aliens who want to become god>Space aliens, living trees, androids, there's nothing ninja about the story anymore. Everyone who doesn't have space alien blood or android blood hasn't been relavent in like 100 chapters. Entire series becomes about the rivalry of a kid with alien blood and a kid with robot and alien blood, as one wants to be killed by the other and the other wants to kill him in a homoerotic story about how killing each other is the only option for both of them>Naruto written out of the story for years in cryostasis>Sasuke written out months ago>Only old character left is Shikamaru sort of>When you read a sequel story you kinda want to feel like things worked out for the heroes, but instead shits more dystopian than its ever been before and its kind of a pointlessly pessimistic future, which is the sin that almost everyone that writes a new generation story makes. Old generation is shitty and weak, new generation has super potential but ultimately are always floundering because the writer wants to keep saying how much worse the stakes are now, and the entire world starts to feel like a bad end where everyone feels washed up or reduced to a fourth tier character except for like two guys. What happened? Is there a way to fix it?
>>282471338No. Kishi literally tanked his entire franchise with this turd. What a massive mistake.
>>282471338>new generation has super potentialYou mean only Boruto and maaybe Sarada.

>>282471338It's simply the worst kind of sequel you could possibly make. It completely shits on the ending and developments all for a story that isn't that interesting. The worst part about it though is how the notion of much of the ninja stuff, problems and old ways being vestigial by end of Naruto get backtracked hard as fuck in Boruto. Stuff like those old fucks still being around and in power is some of the most insulting shit imaginable. There was a decent story to be told about the new gen growing up to deal with the post-ninja world and even the ayyys, but Boruto doesn't do it well. It's going to be GT'd or time fuckery'd out of existence though so that's something to look forward to
