I'm re-watching Adventure 02 for the first time since I saw it when it first broadcast on Fox Kids. I'm watching the sub. I've heard for years that the dub added a lot to the annoying jealous aspect to Davis/Daisuke's characters. I'm 14 episodes into the sub and that is the impression I get. I like Davis in the dub but I think there is a humility and earnestness to him in the sub that might be lost in the dub (I'll have to re-watch the dub).I think something that irritates me about 02 is there is a sort "slowness" to it. At least for the Digimon Kaiser arc. In Adventure, the gang is usually in the digital world. You don't need to take the first 5 minutes of every episode showing their real-world life and setting up a reason for them to go to the digital world and deal with making up excuses for where they have been. Even with Adventure during the Myotismon arc, they just spend that arc in the real-world and you don't need to take the opening of every episode doing monotonous set up material.In Adventure 02, the episodes can feel so monotonous. Every episode. You have to show what's going on with school. You have to set up a reason for them to go to the digital world. It just gets old/too formulaic quick. Besides that, I like Adventure 02 on a re-watch more than I think I did when it first premiered. The cast of Adventure aren't used so much that they take away from the 02 gang's growth. I think they're wisely used to enhance the journey the 02 cast is on.I do think Ken is too evil as the Digimon Kaiser. Maybe he is being controlled by something dark that I've forgotten about. I still have 6 episodes left before he is a good guy. The different between evil Ken and good Ken is huge. Veemon's line is brilliant. Excellent armor evolutions and an awesome rookie design. Hikari and Takeru are fine, but they already completed their arcs back in Adventure.The 02 kids I felt were very annoying. Ken, after being defeated but before fully joining, was interesting, but after that he became too emo for my own liking.
Yep it's a childrens show.
