How would you feel if anime started to feature characters who look more, well, Asian?
i like cats more
>>282486828I see you, fellow /ic/fag.
Whoever says CSM had a bad adaptation should remember - it could’ve been much worse.
>>282486828as long as it's 2d, i don't mind. because 2d >>> 3dpd
>>282486828I would rather have watched the 3D version of Aku no Hana.
>>282486828Pretty idol type asians? OkayUgly average asians? God no
>>282486828Disgusting. If I wanted to look at ugly Asians I'd just watch doramas. But I watch anime for the cute artstyle so fuck off with the 3DPD
>>282486976girl at the top looks like yasuda kei
>>282486828>real life versions look better than the "anime"Tracing is garbage.
>>282486828aku no hana had so much soul, I hate that you fags rejected it...
>>282486828I never watched it, but how does the rotoscope look in motion? they could've made the faces more idealistic.
Asian enough?
>>282487180needs squinty eyes, lose the double eyelid and have more crooked teeth
>How would you feel if anime started to feature characters who look more, well, Asian? There is plenty of good looking people there, it's ok for me.
>>282487215>this stereotypical behaviorWhether they are real schoolgirls or not, they're definitely instagram whores.
>>282486828the problem here is that the real life counterparts look better than the animated onesremoving so much details from a human's face but still trying to go for a realistic look just makes them creepy and uglythe one who came up with this idea is utterly retarded, you can't do this
>>282486924Yeah right doesn't look absolutely horrible at least. Still wouldn't watch old people trying to pass off as middle schoolers.
>>282486828why did they add a monobrow?
>>282487083I will give it that it had a great ost
>>282487352>guy who is legitimately too stupid to get it

>>282487448small noses are cutethere aren't that many mangaka that draw nosesI can think of Naoki Urasawa and Suzuki Nakaba
>>282487448The bigger the nose, the more evil the person is
Junji Ito's style is a nice middle ground. Fairly realistic facial proportions without looking ugly
>>282487516Literary me (drawing manga with anatomically correct proportions actually harder than normal manga because slightest mistake is much more visible and you have to be perfect)
>>282487386whats there to get? whoever was in charge decided on an idea that is fundamentally a bad one
>>282486828This series would've been so much better if it was live-action instead that horrid rotoscope
>>282487745>guy who continues not to get it and relishes his ignorance
>>282487352I agree with this. A different method of stylization would've worked well for Aku no Hana. The expressions and facial proportions aren't even accurate.>>282487898Schizo.
>>282487956>3-0
>>282487956>The expressions and facial proportions aren't even accurate.Yes, Idk the names of these character and I have never watched the show, but for me the most noticeable is for the second guy on the right side. His cheeks and the bags under the eyes in the real life picture are clearly ones of laughter and being in a funny state, is the best way I can describe that. In the anime however his expression is just neutral and weird looking. Overall in all of the faces cheeks, which is a huge part of human's expressions is completely removed.
>>282486828>How would you feelIdk, but the original material being completely different doesn't help this particular case.If you want to try it, try it on something new.
>>282488238you couldn't parody the detractors of this show better than this even if you wanted
never watched this, so I cannot say if it was a good or bad implementation, or even a good or bad story. However I can say I am glad this didn't happen to mieruko chan or any adaptation of manga series I like, and I would probably be displeased if they gave a series I did like (Natsume Arata no Kekkon for example) such a strange adaptation.

>>282488407i wish i knew what that meantthis only reminds me of dbs shitposting
>>282488373True.
>>282486828I wouldn't mind it since Boogiepop, Lain and Paprika already did that and it looked well, your OP picture is just a really bad rotoscope that ruins most of the horror atmosphere since it cycles back to being goofy, I honestly want them to release all of the live-action footage which most likely looks better.
>>282488372It's ok anon, AnH fans survived.
>>282487083This. That's when I lost faith in anime ever becoming a serious art form
>>282488446I agree. Eyes and lips are important for conveying expressions, too. The expressions of everyone in the first 2 images are weakened because of the absence of the lower eyelid folds. This is odd because they exaggerated the nasolabial fold of the messy-haired guy of the 2nd image but didn't draw the eyelid folds which are far more prominent. The absence of lip definition makes it hard to tell that he's puckering, and it makes the girl in the first image look like she has a weird wiggly smile.
>>282488556Yeah man, the further it walks away from traditional animation and the source material the better chances it has being recognized by the masses for how great it is.Maybe Hollywood should take over and just do a straight up live action adaptation with black actors. No, the anime looked bad because it lacked shading. If they put even a little bit of effort shading people wouldn't have been disgusted.
>>282488740By using a non-sequitur? We're going in circles.Since you're not even able to comprehend the point you were making, here it is: deviating from the norm is a slippery slope
>>282488778If you understood what he was saying, why raise a stink about it? You don't look half as clever as you think you do.
>>282488778Your argument and the OP argument are fundamentally different. People are arguing against the OP and you think this means they don't "get it".OP is a racist that says that asians are ugly, and is saying that the anime is accurate to real life asians. People are arguing that no, the anime art doesn't actually look like real life asians.Whatever you're going on about, you're tilting at windmills.
>>282488778You're the only one moving in circles. >Since you're not even able to comprehend the point you were makingI called you retarded as a general insult but now I'm beginning to think you actually are one.>deviating from the normDeviating from the norm is not equal to something having soul or being good or a serious art form (strong implications that it wasn't before). >>282488850Because A) I don't agree, B) It doesn't make sense to say that letting one's artistic expression run freely instead of following traditional animation methods will lead to a Hollywood situation, or something similar>>282488851My argument is that the anime is good. The adaptation having a lot of soul has no implication about the manga lacking one.>This thread itself doesn't discuss much of how the anime didn't look like the original or the norm. What I did mention was traditional animation and how that statement naturally implies you don't consider it a serious art formI consider anime up until the 2000s to be art, now it's just slop for maximum profit and anything that deviates from the norm gets crucified. Anime movies are still good. Thinking that the artistic merit of anime hasn't gone downhill in the last two decades is being blind to reality. But you do you.>I have no idea why sarcasm is so foreign to youOh my god. I'm talking about horses and you're ironizing over penguins? Is that how it works? Stop bringing sarcasm as a shield. And then went on to talk to me about AnH.>The further anime walks away from traditional animation and manga (both are based on drawings) etc etc.And here is EXACTLY the point of your sarcasm. Do you get how sarcasm works now? Anyways. I think that's an incredibly stupid mindset to have when you see how downhill the quality of anime drawings have gone. It's not a slippery slope because Hollywood doesn't have artistic freedom, Netflix shows, everything... For it to be a slippery slope you'd need to have people infiltrate the industry at top positions.1/2
>>282489107Japanese animation shouldn't restrict itself to following a 'conventional artstyle'.>God I hate having to explain things to retards.
