>>What does this success tell you about how the audience for anime is changing? Were there any four-quadrant surprises in the results?>I’ve been saying for three or four years now that anime fandom is no longer niche — it’s mainstream and gigantic. [...]>Another thing we’ve known about [...] is how wrong many of the myths about anime fandom are. Many people have always said, “Oh, this is a Japanese medium, so it must be heavily indexed toward an Asian audience.” We’ve known for a while that this isn’t the case. It’s a very diverse audience. It overindexes across all different ethnicities. Whether it’s Hispanic, African American, or South Asian, it overindexes. Again, this has been in our data for a long time, but this box office success has been the perfect opportunity for other parties to see it firsthand, via exit polling and more traditional metrics.>>Another narrative that gets attached to anime’s growing success is that it’s especially popular among the young — Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Was that true for this film? [...]>In terms of your first question, it’s absolutely true. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are a huge part of this fandom. But that doesn’t mean they’re the only age groups. We saw a lot of parents coming to see Infinity Castle with their kids, and there were many fans in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. [...]>We’ve been cultivating these relationships with young adults for a long time. So, it’s all of the things you would imagine — TikTok, Reddit AMAs, and Discord; hosting real-world events for young fans and influencers to attend; and engaging the celebrity anime fans that young people follow and listen to. It’s also about being very present on YouTube, Roblox, and Fortnite, and in the various other places where this young audience spends time and participates.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/crunchyroll-ceo-demon-slayer-infinity-castle-anime-success-1236377193/

>>282487249>some shounenshit gets popular, which isn't even a face of anime and is literally made kids and teens with low iq>anime is popular saarok
>>282487293This. Didn't read. The more money this industry makes the more "investors" cancer it will attract ending up like Hollywood anyway.
What's going to be the most embarrassing bomb Jap suits make trying to chase Demon Slayer tier money?
>>282487249>niggerrollKill yourself
>>282487249It’s not that anime itself is big, only KNY is.The only other series with the potential to draw crowds on this level are One Piece and JJK.That’s the distinction you can’t afford to misunderstand.
>>282487307This is the most baffling thing to me. Burgers love raving about numbers but this shit is in no way culturally relevant, even when compared to other shounenslop. Why is this supposed to be the one that makes anime popular?
>>282487432I can't even imagine the kind of gibbering power scaler retard teenage boy that thinks JJK can even be half as big as DS.
Yet CrunchyRoll doesn't invest in the anime industry, it invests in making korean webtoon adaptations and never forget that godawful Californian Calarts garbage show that CR subscribers paid for.
>>282487249Crunchyroll will, inevitably, lead to the death of anime. Crunchyroll and its consequences have been a disaster for the anime industry. In the same way Nexus Mods / Black Tree Gaming has virtually killed free expression with mods, Crunchyroll will do the same with anime.
>>282487432>conclusion: the more normie the anime is, the more low iq masses will consoom itthanks for you input, ojisan
>doomer meltyJust because mainstream output is increased doesn't mean passion projects disappear
>>282487249>anime fandom is no longer niche — it’s mainstream and giganticWe should've gatekept harder. It's all our fault.
>>282487249Wake me up when all the zoomers and other faggots stop watching shounen and watch any other genreMy ecchi anime are untouchable because they make the sexless zoomers uncomfortable
>>282487307>and is literally made kids and teens with low iqThat's by definition true for every single shounenshit
Anime is capable of hitting it big in the west, but good luck finding something that's able to recreate demon slayer's success. There's nothing else on the horizon besides more fucking demon slayer. It will be years until something new and shiny comes along with just the right conditions to capture mass appeal.
>>282487307>which isn't even a face of anime... May as well be at this point, there's legitimately nothing more popular anime wise.
>shitflix and hollywood makes tv and film with leftist propaganda and sensibilities and chases everyone to anime>WOW ANIME IS SO BIG NOW WE BETTER GET INVOLVED
>>282489674Frieren.
>>282487249Fuck off with your castrated anime. Bring back fanservice or die on the dust.
>>282489694Mal isn't real popularity. 555 million in the box office and 2 million/volume average outside Japan is.
He wasn't born when Pokemania, YGOmanima and DBZ debuted? I doubt KnY be popular for many decades like PKM and DB tho (they are still super popular nowadays)
>>282487480>Yet CrunchyRoll doesn't invest in the anime industryThat's a good thing actually
>>282487249KNY is 10/10 and its proven how much a/ is sheeting over it. It will have tons of prequels and side storyies, they will milk it for decades.
>>282489715Crunchyroll have uncensored ecchi anime.>>282487510Nothing will happen.
>>282489715Do you fucks even watch what you are bitcing about?
>>282489715Mitsuri and Tengen's three wives??
>>282487249Anime is getting bigger because western media has become impossible to watch. It´s a refuge. Moreover western media is not taking the hint and instead they are producing their own anime flavored shit full of the things that make western media impossible to watch. Sadly Japs need the money so i guess we are past the point of no return...
>>282490364Western media isn't dying, the most successful movies and shows every year are from the west. The new Avatar movie will murder the competition.
>normies will ruin animefuck
>>282489772It's funny how fags try to astroturf KnY as the biggest anime in the world when it can only exist when the anime is on air and when the anime is off the air, it's memoryholed from the public consciousness. KnY is one of those series that has no long-term plan for what happens after the anime ends. Pokémon makes nearly $3 billion every year and DB makes $1 billion every year (no anime and manga, by the way). Even as a shounen anime, it left no cultural footprint unlike the Big 3.KnY is pretty much the Avatar of anime.
>>282490300fanservice in 2025 is when cleavage is allowed to be shown, LMAO
>>282487249Demon Slayer is what will kill anime.
