what happened
>From Q2 2022 to Q2 2025, the share of Japanese franchises among all non-US franchise titles on Netflix in North America has grown significantly, from just 13% to 29%. Their popularity has been driven in particular by the growing appeal of Anime

Looks like what happened is the UK and Canada fucked themselves and stopped producing anything anyone wanted to watch.
>>
>now
>>

Crunchyroll and other streaming sites mainly
but it was also a gradual and natural process
Each generation liked anime exponentially more than the last
The amount of market share it had was going to rise as boomers and gen X/early millennials died out/got older
MCU was probably comics swan song really.

The question is now, when is it going to peak. The same happened in the late 90s to mid 00s with biz and tokyopop and Funimation and ADV etc etc. but it eventually peaked and plateaued/died down for the latter half of the 00s and early 10s picking back up in mid 10s.
What will be the attack on Titan of this decade to next. Oh actually I guess its demon slayer actually. It really doesn't feel the same probably because demon slayer is already over, very shortlived.

UK hasn't had any cultural exports since the late 1990s.
>>
>>282513998
that explains why I stopped watching anime
>>
>>282514775
>oh no everyone likes it now so I can't like it anymore
why do normalfags like you care about what other people think so much
>>
>>282514752
Sure, but the graph shows a big drop over the last few years.

>zoomers love japan and hate britain
it's over
>>
>>282514752
They have, but it's all shit for wine aunts and Tumblrinas like Sherlock, the Doctor Who reboot, and Downton Abbey.
>>
>>282513998
>now
shits been normalfag tier for years

Demon Slayer
>>
If I knew this would happen, I would have never recommended Attack On Titan to my normie friends
>>
>>282515770
I'm millennial and I hate Britain too
>>
>>282513998
>now
I've been unironically hearing this word used for past 10 years. I think it's safe to say it is very much mainstream already and continues to be.
>>
>>282515084
Because the average person needs everything sanitized and censored to be woman-friendly so they can watch it with their girlfriends and their little munchkins. Nothing that's mainstream is allowed to be cool or sexy because it makes normies uncomfy.
>>
>things like Speed Racer making it to tv
>regional stations like the one's in Hawaii picking up some shows
>Pre-Amiga fansubs and early commercial subs on tape in the 80's
>Post-Amiga fansub tape proliferation
>Sailor Moon hitting tv and critical recognition of films like GITS/Nausicaa/Grave of the Fireflies/etc
>Pokemon and Toonamishit, plus a few less notable cable anime blocks
>post digital video fansub proliferation
>Crunchyroll goes commercial

If you argue any of these represents anime becoming mainstream in the US, you're wrong.
>>
>>282518648
What is the mainstream point in your opinion then? If you consider it to be mainstream now.
>>
>>282513998
>now
>>
>>282518648
Crunchyroll is genuinely popular in states though
>>
>>282514752
Doctor Who and Sherlock peaked in the 2010s for international popularity.

Which Indian shows are so popular?
Is there anything good?
>>
what this means is that Japan has a lot of anime and they are cheap to license
>>
>>282513998
Anime has been mainstream in France my entire life so this changes nothing for me.
>>
>>282513998
Does this mean we can demand the japs to remove all the creepy incest pedo diddy ahh shit from anime?

The anime that are popular among normalfag circles now are the same type of anime that would have been popular in the 90s. Call me when normalfags talk about how much they love shit like Onimai, instead of whatever current action shonen is popular in the zeitgeist.
>>
why are americans so weeb now
>>
>>282523607
Russian girl anime was the most streamed anime in the US last summer and that had twitter idiots calling it exactly that
>>
>>282522612
Bollywood keeps growing.
