Can someone explain to me why now every anime date happens in an aquarium, what on Earth started this trend, do the Japanese really.
That's the current meta, haven't you been dating?

This has probably been a thing for a long time. Umineko episode 2 opened with an aquarium date in 2007.
It's pretty simple. Listen up.Aquariums are family-friendly public locations widely available in many Japanese cities with all the romantic and sexual connotations of the sea (distance, yearning, returning after a long parting, wetness, slippery things) and plenty of quiet secluded spots with mood lighting where Thing Might Happen When No One's Looking, so they probably provide insecure teenagers (most anime protags) a good opportunity to date while offering plausible deniability in case anyone asks awkward questions.>What did you do this weekend?>Nothing much. Just went to see the aqarium with my "friend">Ok then [yawns internally]
>>282521664Beach episodes were replaced by aquarium episodes with the woke-ification of animehttps://www.cbr.com/how-aquarium-dates-became-a-romantic-anime-staple/
>>282521664Cute Kaiwives
>>282522327I don't remember beach episodes being use for dating plots, it was mostly the cast going together to have fun and not a two-person kinda deal. Anyway, those turn into pool episodes in current times.
>>282522427exactly, anime used to have fun episodes and now it's all boringslop romanceslop for normalfags
>>282521664Only fish smelling lesbos do this.
>>282521664aquariums are atmospheric
>>282524144But they are Kai's wives
>>282521664Only when it's between a boy and a girl
Fish smell
>>282521664Because the colorful coral and fish make for an interesting background
>>282525090cute couple
>>282521664You either go to an aquarium with a girl or with your kids, there is literally no reason to go there with a buddy or alone.
>>282521664aquariums, botanical gardens, and parks with decent trails are high tier dating spots especially for the feeling out phase
>>282526593What if I like marine life?
Aquariums have always been a place for normal dates. Yurifags just want to steal it from everyone else
Aquarium cool
>>282527178You go swim in the ocean like a real man.
>>282521664>Can someone explain to me why now every anime dateIt's not every date. It's every YURI date. It just happened so much in yuri media that going to the aquarium has become yuri-coded.
>>282521733Yeah, Umineko actually has the answer to this. Fishy aroma
The last date I went on I went to a pizza place, and played some cheap arcade games.

>>282530757iconic
>>282522327No you retard. Beach episodes are almost exclusively fanservice or vacation episodes. Nobody goes to the aquarium for a vacation, nor is there any fanservice. It's a day out at best. I'm tired of your retarded schizo ass shitting up every other thread
>get annoyed that nippleschizo is still around>scroll down and see that yurischizo is also here, still arguing with the ghost of AustinFuck this gay site. Never should have come back
>>282521664Aquarium fish symbolize unexpressed feelings. It's a way to visually demonstrate the "intercourse" of two people getting to know each other, as the fish are swimming around in the tank, so too do our protagonists have feelings swimming around in the fishtank of their hearts. It's pretty simple and basic shit, I don't know why some people need a fucking college-level dissertation to understand fucking anime that's made for 13-year-olds.
>>282531382I'm 38 and thought it was just that aquariums are atmosphere and pretty
Kai won btw
>>282531412Aquariums, if you have a decent-nice one available, are pretty cool
>>282521664>what on Earth started this trendIt was started with Hanzawa Naoki episode in 2013 back then.

>>282521664There was a date in an aquarium in Umineko.
sex in the aquarium
>>282521664Japan is an island country therefore aquariums make a lot more sense than zoos with land animals since they are literally surrounded by water.
>>282521664Behold this monumentally important anime-style video game from 1994 where you can go on a date at an aquarium.
>>282537786Is it just me or is Shiori kind of hot?
>>282521664I prefer water parks. It evens the playing field as make up is out of the picture, it also weeds out boring lameos that hate fun.I also love water slides.
>>2825377861 of course
>>282527542Do they really? I'll believe it if I see it, I've just never seen it.
>>282530802Uh... No?
>>282536236Japan has a lot of zoos as well - remember the publicity bits in Kemono Friends.
>>282521664Fishes can be used for pleasure, it's a metaphor for sex, if two characters are having a date in an aquarium, it's foreshadowing that they will fuck
>>282521664it's just what you do in Japan and objectively the aquarium is a great date spot. It's quiet and a little dark, you can talk privately and comfortably. There is something for you to do right in front of you as well. And if you are gonna do something with your date, it'a dark and quiet enough that you're not gonna bother people too much.Think of it as a more sociable movie date or as a more activity-focussed restaurant date (without any of the issues that can cause). The aquarium is a top tier early date location.
If you can get a girl to visit the aquarium with you, it would take active effort for you to fuck it up.
>>282521664we must return to fishe
Are aquariums actually fun?
>>282521664But it is the best date spot.>inside the city>no sun>air conditioned>not smelly unlike zoos
>>282542069Unlike in anime, they are crowded as fuck especially weekends.
>>282540314Mid bottom is not yuri though.
>>282521664Your post contains the answer: Aquatope supremacy
>>282521664aquarium dates are kind of like a low stake version of museum dates. Basically dates where you are just watching and comenting on aesthetically pleasing shit. Museum dates are more difficult because you can end up looking uneducated or stupid if your partner knows more about art than you. With fish no one gives a fuck if you know more or less so it's more relaxed and chill.
>>282547597Only the first half. The second half was a disappointment
>>282542069They can be. But I’ve never been to one that’s as aesthetically empty as anime makes it seem. There’s always families and kids running around. Maybe if you went on a really off peak time like a random Tuesday afternoon
>>282547916Because of wrong expectations.People always complain about stories ending after one arc, and now that we actually got to see continuation, people get disappointed because things have moved forward and things are not the same anymore. People are taking earlier moments for granted, expecting the biggest emotional climax at the very end in a cheesy way, that doesn't work in more realistic stories like Aquatope.I liked the first arc was better but the second one was still good. Also the soulless wageslave arc kinda validates the grief that gamagama truly was a nicer place to work in. I think some people are rejecting the second half because they feel like it's implicated as progression towards better life, but I don't think it's making that judgement, it's just slice of life where it's showing both advantages and negative sides of the modern place (between improved possibilities and total depression). I guess in this way it's either kind of bleak story (coping with life getting worse and more soulless) or just "incorrectly" structured story, assuming the expectation of climax at the end is the correct way. I guess they could have structured it in a way where it begins with the second arc, culminates into a long series of flashbacks of the first arc, combining both, and then resolves into the importance of friendship during hardship or something like that, though I don't know if the story could withstand being stretched this far.
>>282549106I get that the idea was good, but the execution was seriously lacking. I didn't need to watch a shit boss being an asshole for no reason every week to get the point. And the pacing was so bad. The writers realized that Fuuka had barely done anything since the start of the second cour, so they rushed a study overseas arc in the penultimate episode to give the story a sense of climax and conclusion. Most side character subplots were left hanging, too.The first cour was so good because it was just a story about two girls forming a close bond with the impending doom of Gama Gama and their separation drawing closer. The climax was naturally built with each episode, and the side characters felt better utilized as well.
>>282546552are you high?
>>282551396Are you new?
Aquariums are comfy
>>282521664Anon listen to me. Bitches love the Zoo and by extension Aquariums. Plus it’s cheap and easy like how going to the movies was.
>>282521664>nowAnon, this trend has been going on since the '90s. You are just noticing now because you are more exposed to the medium than you used to be.
