One useful distinction for NEs is whether they are linear or exponential. For example I think Ayys are linear, I don't think there's going to be a special type of alien that's 100000x stronger than their lowest ranks. Their strength is that most of their population is at bare minimum close to demon lord level. On the other hand demons are exponential, the lower ranks are fodder while lords are exponentially stronger, with the emperor being exponentially stronger than lords presumably. Giants are also exponential if Ginbak is anything to go off of though he seems to be the only case in his race. The forests seem to be linear, robots exponential, etc.

The hyper-specialized robots are optimized to be the perfect counter to a particularly troublesome enemy, testing and improving on clearing this one specific fight until they find the right combination of weapons and strategy to take down something even as strong as a demon lord. But optimization makes cutting in one place to focus on another. A robot optimized for speed and a robot optimized for heavy armor won't be the same robot, and indeed trying to do both at once would make you worse at both. Fighting the robots SOLO is suicide. They will optimize to beat you in specific. Likewise, fighting the robots with an army that all has the same weapons/skills is also a losing strategy, because if you all have the same laser guns then it doesn't matter if there are 100 of you instead of just 1, any improvement that counters lasers fucks all of you.You want to fight the robots with a GROUP of people, all of which have totally different powers and abilities, so that the robots are forced to try and adapt to multiple different skillsets and forms of attack at once, limiting their ability to optimize their way out of this problem because what works against one opponent doesn't help against another.

I think the neo humans will study Alio and apply the heroes' enhancements, or at least part of them, to themselves. I think it's also possible that they'll turn Alio into a neo human in the process.
You know, maybe numbers do have an influence on the strength of demon kings, but that's not the only thing that decides it. Maybe it's similar to the OPM's S class.From what I've seen so far Alio seems to consider Hallow more valuable than himself, hero 9 seems to have been considered above Hallow and hero 3 seems to have been the strongest of those shown so far. Roya Roach clearly seems to be much weaker than Jachi, Diganazal seemed to me to be stronger than the cockroach and Jachi seems to be the strongest of the demon kings who have been shown fighting so far. All this fits in with the numbers in their positions.There may be as much difference between demon kings as there is between S classes, Jachi may well be as much stronger than the lowest demon kings as Darkshine ir even Tatsumaki is stronger than the weakest S class heroes.
