>Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini confirms Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is heading for the Oscars!>"We believe the movie is incredible: the animation, the story, the quality in every aspect. We will do everything possible to ensure this movie is considered in ALL THE CATEGORIES it could qualify for."Time for Ghibli to be dethroned
Kpop demon hunters will win this one.
>>282557779Just because shit makes a lot of money, doesn't make it an Oscar contender. If that were the case, China would have a spot every year. They tried once with Mugen Train and the Academy told Japan to fuck off.>IndianOh, that explains it.
>>282557779I will never get salesfagging. Sure, I want anime I like to be successful and profitable so that they make more of it. But never would I assume sales are in indication of quality. Would you argue that Candy Crush is the best video game, Billboard Top 40 the best music or McDonald's the best food? The majority of people are fucking retarded so whether low IQ idiots are paying to see something should if at all be an indication to avoid something like the plague. Especially when something extends outside the circle of people who actually watch anime you know it's something that appeals to normalfags, newfags and generally people who have absolutely no taste.Just to be clear I don't give a shit about Demon Slayer in particular, it's just the concentrated amount of salesfagging I see for this movie. I always thought it was a weird gotcha if some anon pulls the "my anime sold more than yours" card.
>>282558866It's a false flag thread dingbat
>>282557779Source for this statement?

>>282560307The strongest Pillar.
>>282557779I don't think they will be accepted. If box office results were decisive, then China would have their own nominee each year. There's also this Ne Zha 2 movie that earned, what, over 2 bilion dollars?
>>282563581It won't, it's just a way for people slumming in Crunchyroll corporate jobs they're ashamed of to piss away investor money making personal connections in Hollywood for their later benefit
>>282557779I think movies based that translate manga 1:1 are no good. You're supposed read weekly chapter calmly, appreciate the art, get to know the characters and have a debate with yourself about the plot.Watching this crap is the equivalent of speedreading.
>>282557779I’ll never fall for another mega popular tourist shonen again. I watched three seasons of Boku no Hero and it was pure white noise with colorful character designs.
>>282564193I think so as well. Anime can be faithful and follow its own way at the same time, offering unique experience fitting the animated format AND the same story you could read in a manga. What works in a manga format doesn't have to work in an animated movie. The newest movie could've been shorter without cutting anything from the story other than lined typical for manga (like characters explaining what is happening). And I'm saying it as a KnYfag who read the manga when it was still getting serialized.
>>282557779did ghibli even put anything out this year? boy and the heron was last year
>>282557779 I really enjoyed it with being the first part of a trilogy is the only problem while I hope K-Pop Demon Hunters wins the Oscar!!!FACT!!!
>>282560358Once in a blue moon, that site can be based.
>>282557779>Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini
>>282557779Bad idea that'll just lead to ridicule. The Oscars are notorious for ignoring box office success and moreover, I have strong doubts a sufficiently large percentage of the voting base has enough knowledge about the series for the movie to make sense to them, let alone when watched in a vacuum.
I would laugh so hard if Reze gets nominated and Demon Slayer doesn't
nothing is gonna beat kpop demons hunters because that's probably the only animated movie that voters know about.
>>282568768It's way too anti-Hollywood of a business model, no chance for entirely political reasons
