Why did Japan stop drawing great manga?
>>282559367Why she looks like an uglier Asa?still kinda cute in a homely way
wrong question with a flawed premisethe real question is why did you stop reading great manga?
>>282559843Anon cut the crap, we all know manga is in the gutter right now. A lot of old mangakas are retiring, finished their decade spanning series and there's nothing replacing that
>>282559367I liked this one. I love these kind of short and well-made manga. You get a nice, well-illustrated story without having to wait years for the publication to end. Great.
>>282559880there's still a ton of great manga out theremaybe not a ton of great translated manga, but still...you CAN read Japanese, right?
>>282559906So despite there being more translations than ever before all the great hits just happen to be... not translated?Come on now
>>282559985so you can't
>>282560008And I don't have to, there are more translations than a man can read nowadays.
>>282559367the change happened when all manga went digital
>>282559367You are mistaken. The real question is how Japan is still able to create masterpiece manga like this in the current timeline
>>282559367you wouldn't recognise great manga even if it mooned you right in the face
>>282560648You too
>>282559367because you aren't doing enough to engage with the hobby
>>282559367Huh?
>>282559906kek what a lazy cope
>>282560293Rosen Garten saga is an exception to the rule
>>282559906>>282559985This is mangafag cope. They know on some level there are barely any great works in the medium, to the point they're embarrassed to actually call anything so, but are mentally in denial about this because "being a patrician manga reader" is part of their identity and something they use to hold themselves above "mere anime watching casuals".If they actually knew Japanese they'd know the whole idea of there being tons of great manga, but only as exclusive, obscure hidden gems, is a bullshit fantasy they invented and there there are more solidly great anime than there are properly realized manga that tell a story in a genuinely accomplished way.
>>282569223>Dekinai coping that he's missing out without ever realizing it.
>>282569223As a raw chad I upvote this post. Manga as a format (the mindset with which is made) is largely antithetical to good storytelling. The irony of mangafags gaslighting themselves that they're fans for high art when the reality of manga is authors making shit up as they go in hopes of shitting out as many volumes as the economics will allow them is so thick you could cut it with a knife.
>>282570768YOU are accusing ME, who can read manga in Japanese well enough to be able to make that comment, of being the「出来ない」.I don't know how one attains this level of arrogance, and I don't want to know.
>>282569223Fucking this. Just compare Drifters to Hellsing, the economics of manga make even the best authors produce subpar stuff
>>282559985Translations are done by people that can't read Japanese and don't follow manga magazines. It's all machine translated drivel for the crap the masses want to consume. At best you get a SEA-monkey with rudimentary skills trying to earn some money. Most classic titles aren't translated either because there's no market for that. Anybody that really cares learns Japanese to read for themselves.
>>282571591Which magazines do you read?
>>282569223Every season we get adaptions where the original is untranslated and suddenly there's a huge rush to translate them and the title that was ignored before is suddenly popular. Yet somehow unadapted series have to be trash. Until they get adapted.
>>282574149Way to miss the point. Of course there's plenty of manga that would have an audience of weebs if someone introduced those works to them. That's what ads (anime) do. Those manga weren't "hidden greats" all along.
>>282572678U-uh um o yes I knew. I only read comic LO, yes I even read in japanese only.
>>282559367>>282559880>>282569223Outside of sci-fi that is admittedly in a slump, there are fantastic series in basically every genre being published right now or just recently finishing. The only way that you can say this is if you just don't actually ever look for manga to read.
>>282569223
>>282574806>Outside of sci-fi that is admittedly in a slumpThis is tragic to me.I know sci-fi manga was never as popular as other genres in Japan, but they used to have such outstandingly high quality sf manga.
>>282574806>>282574902What about all the untranslated sci-fi manga? I think that old 20+ volumes sci-fi about space is finally getting translations but we barely get a chapter every couple of months
>>282574669Not even LOE or Towako?
>>282575664>I think that old 20+ volumes sci-fi about space is finally getting translationscan you be anymore vague you utter faggot
>>282574575They're not hidden gems to a normal person reading in Japanese but there's a lot of cool series running in lesser known magazines that never get wider recognition because they don't have the marketing reach of the big brands.
>>282575740I don't remember the name because it takes months for a chapter to show up, is about space exploration but with politics sci-fi and weird sexual stuff
