Jojo is a worthless property that WB and Shueisha have no idea what to do with. My theory is that it was memed to investors as a huge thing they should be pushing around 2017-2019, which is how the Netflix deal emerged in time for Stone Ocean. However they have the numbers. They know, the fucking KNOW that it has no real pull. It's all smoke and mirrors, it's all third-worlder brazillians posting memes and racking up views on the clips. Pretty much any other big anime gets a hugeeeee western push nowadays. Of course it's not Jujitzu Kaizen, One Piece, Demon Slayer big but I think Jojo fans are in this fictitious bubble where they believe that it's EVEN at the level of fucking Chainsaw Man or Dandadan or even Vinland Saga and for some reason it's just being mistreated. There's no audience. It doesn't exist, there aren't numbers for it, there aren't merch sales for it in OR outside of Japan. Westerners overestimate the popularity of the current Jojo serialization in Japan (it hasn't sold well in actual decades, it's only alive because it keeps Ultra Jump afloat) and they have this fantasy delusion that normal anime fans have even thought about JJBA since 2016. It's Netflix fodder for a reason.
Araki is having a real dry spell with part 9 villain stands. The cats were serviceable but we''re back to boring instakill stands that will have contrived solutions. Key west did not need D4C x Metallica. Smooth operators is interacting with it just like bags groove.
