We saw this from his thoughts at the start of the chunin exams. Later in the story, he grows and fights with them and began to see them as friends. He never had this with Sakura since his "crush" influenced his thoughts on her and he always treated her cordially since the start. It went from this to the scene where he finally acknowledges that she didn't like him. That's the extent of it.
Sakura was awful and had no redeeming qualities. I know Kishi tried to make Kushina be similar to her but it’s clear as day how different both are given what Kushina had to endure as a Jinchuuriki while Sakura’s “problems” were not getting Uchiha dick. She’s written like a typical woman, which is unusual for a WSJ series, but that still doesn’t make her a good fit for someone like Naruto who was sick of her obvious bullshit after many years of blue balling.
