I enjoyed the mango more than the animu but it's still great, it fleshes out the characters more with voice and movement but has less environmental detail and there's no volume extras or the like, which added a lot to the worldbuilding, a huge strength of the series. It's even better if you're not deranged because of culture wars.

For me the latter is far more interesting and has a better mix of serious and comedic moments than Frieren while also having better pacing and character development although it helps that the manga ended years ago and wrapped things up in a pretty solid way.
