One thing I think people overlook when trying to understand how Onimai did so well is how the manga hasn't truly "stopped" on a status quo a single time since its start.If you've been a fan of TSF themed manga for a long time, surely you will be very familiar with the very low quality Simpsons-esque "must maintain the status quo" writing that these kinds of series used to be plagued with.Be it one chapter or 100 into the genderswap, you would sill be getting the MC hesitating to enter a changing room, freaking out at bodily contact with other girls, and generally having the same reactions to the same experiences essentially forever, as if none of the previous iterations had ever happened.
