Can someone explain to me why childhood friends are treated like the designated cucks in anime and manga? Most of the time nip authors don't even attempt to write them in a favourable way, but instead they are the punching bag. When did this shit trend even began?

Then it started to be subverted because CFs were "easy" and "entitled", often to contrast a main heroine who could shake things up. Today, it's just to the opposite extreme where CFs are almost comical assholes while the FL is the much better person.
