In a later chapter the cat asks the exact same question and RX does try to rob a bank. They meet other normal criminals, but those other criminals are armed, organised, well prepared, and non-retarded. They take the General and her minions hostage with the other bank clients/employees. General calls Braveman with some tech gizmo she has, but the criminals see some outgoing transmission and threaten to kill her. I don't remember the details of how it ends, but of course no one gets hurt, and its a funny chapter.
As for part time job, its later explained that the RX boss works in some place that allows him to wear a face mask, beaner and sunglasses while working. That's part of the reason it pays so low, it was the only job he could find that'd let him cover his face.
