Companies follow the path where the most money is, and its much more popular to create generally sellable grey goo over targeted red goo. Anime, which was relatively famed not just for its mature approach to animation, but also its freedom of creativity, may see a death in it's creative liberties because these liberties are at odds with foreign sensibilities. These sensibilities are always becoming more and more restrictive by the day, and generally even things as far as 5 years ago are no longer acceptable to depict today.It is generally known that due to COVID, there was an ingress of undesirable elements that began to watch anime. But this movie is a permanent tombstone, a reminder that we will never get rid of this. Those people vastly outnumber the original target audience, and we, even the Japanese themselves, are now at the mercy of foreign audiences. Gone are the days where we had nearly unrestrained, culturally different content. Even the East will soon undergo Western Enshittification. There were many small things I took for granted, the perverts, the boob gropes, the lolis, the hags, the pantyshots, the skimpy dresses, the excessive gore, the copious blood, the unrestrained violence, and so much more. Sure, you have the occasional show which has this, but they will go extinct soon too.
