Zeta was 1986. A lot of people watching Zeta knew who Char was by osmosis, but likely hadn't actually seen the entirety of 0079.It also isn't meant to be a twist though. Same general design, same voice actor, and characters a theorizing that he's Char by as early as episode seven if I recall.
