Let's say just ending it isn't an option. How would you have wanted to continue it after Raoh? Where did part 2 go wrong?
>>282647458Training Ryu but actually doing so.>Where did part 2 go wrong? The Hokuto Ryuken arc. Most of part 2's issues are there.
>>282647458I think the problem is that you can kind of see the story "respecting" the Raoh battle and refusing to do something that would make everything that came before invalid. But like later shounen show, you pretty much need escalation to continue the story with the same protagonist, not just "Kenshiro is back to kick more villain's ass". You need to establish how due to power creep Raoh is nothing now and Kenshiro must surpass the Hokuto no Ken's teachings to achieve a new level of power to prevail. Like eventually they did have Kaioh, but it was a very specific one shot situation among many weaklings in comparison, not a linear curve - which actually helps it feeling unnatural and cheap as compared to if FotNS just had a standard shounen power creep.Alternatively, continue with basically the same set up the show actually did but make timeskip Bat the actual new protagonist, somehow having mastered Hokuto Shinken or somethign comparable, with Kenshiro moving on to an actual secondary/mentor position (and shown to have some kind of limitation the older Bat can surpass, maybe due to age or some wound) rather than still being the main hero.
>>282647729>The Hokuto Ryuken arc. Most of part 2's issues are there.I agree with that.
Part 2 was pretty good
What I like about HnK escalation is that it doesn't necessarily feel like it's just "next bad guy more powerful than previous bad guy". It's not DBZ at all really. A lot of progress characters have is more abstract/metaphysical, as opposed to something quantitative like ability to harness ki points or whatever.
You can keep the Ashura stuff but this time they invade Japan and Kenshiro has to be the one to rally the people of the wasteland and pass on his teachings
A lot of it is the tricks and habits of the first part hitting with less effect -- in part out of the sheer repetition, in part because it just isn't as inspired, and in part because the story at that point had been so extensive that the retcons get less and less plausible. All the Hokuto Ryuken stuff applies here, yes, but then things like Gento Koken being unveiled as the REAL counterpart of Hokuto (but not really...) and the stupidity of Rin and Rui already strain the story. It's just too much. After volumes of everyone simping over one young woman it's too much to burden the audience with.To put it another way, it shrinks too much even as it tries to expand.
>>282647458>Where did part 2 go wrong?Way less interesting supporting cast for KenshiroThe retarded Asura hype that ended up being a nothingburger ("noooo, don't go to that land, I've been there with my buddies and I'm the only survivor who wasn't even able to enter because a single kid defeated us near the outskirts, now think how strong adult Asura are when there are thousands of them!", then Kenshiro goes anyway, then "oh noooo, it's that very kid who beat me and my friends but now he's adult, we're doooomed!", then it does end up being a fair fight for Kenshiro but RIGHT AFTER THAT every single nameless Asura is on par with random thug from Part 1 and jobs to Kenshiro with zero effort)The retarded focus on Kenshiro's past and three leaders of Asura land that feels very forced and unnecessary (Actually, Raoh and Kenshiro come from this land! Actually, one of three leaders is Kenshiro's brainwashed brother! Actually, the strongest of three leaders is Raoh's and Toki's brother who's just a copypaste of Raoh but with spooky aura armor! Oh, an who cares about the last leader, he dies by being a good guy or something. Oh, and let us keep wanking Raoh even in flashbacks when he was a kid)I don't feel like covering the rest of Part 2 like Raoh's kid going on adventures with Kenshiro and freeing some random land or country or something that ends with dropping the kid off and wasting last 5-10 chapters on one of the dumbest, shortest and forced love trianlges.>How would you have wanted to continue it after Raoh?Basically something like >>282647856 have said - keep Kenshiro as supporting character and focus on new main character with new fancy martial art.
>>282651336Falco crossing the sea to Asuraworld only to immediately die to a low-level goon just felt like they changed their mind. It was a completely pointless sequence of events. Pretty much everything after Raoh feels that way, as much as I liked Kenshiro taking Ein's glove or Bat and Rin growing up to be resistance leaders.
