The payoff for the Asagao reunion foreshadowing definitely hits a bit harder the older you are. Jinya never expected to see anyone from his adoptive hometown anymore and him getting chances to see those were effectively dead to him again was a dose of nostalgia and then some. I'm genuinely going to check out the LNs for this because it's got me curious what else the author has planned for our Soba-eater's journey to make up for not fucking his sister.

Ending it on a note that lets us see that he's holding himself together well and hint at still getting a more hopeful future for him beyond revenge on his imouto lines right up with what an optimistic epilogue should be and do hence why it was a good choice despite blueballing the imouto and nieces plot. It makes me wonder if the author is a Sengoku Youko fan since it's fairly similar in nature to the manga's 2nd half and the plot plays out the kind of story you'd expect to see after the epilogue.
