I loved SSR, but for some reason couldn't get into ShimSim, it kind of felt like a monthly dose of random tkmiz stuff, which is alright, but it got stale after a while. Weirdly, I think SSR having a story made it more coherent and more interesting to read, even if that story was just "go up."

Personally I view Shim Sim as a continuation of SSR. Not solely in the sense that they take place in the same universe but themes they explore. SSR being about how to live a fulfilling life by enjoying the little things in spite of the fact that existing at all is ultimately futile. Whereas Shim Sim is about self actualizing in a world of a abundance. **I understand that Shim Sim ends up being about more than this by end but it was probably the main point of Shijima'a character arc**
