It's telling how little the 2003 series is cared about in 2025 when not only has Aniplex of America neglected to release it on Blu-ray and DVD, but you can't stream the show legally anywhere either. You have to use illegal streaming sites, torrent it, or buy bootlegs on eBay because the previous FUNimation Blu-ray is long out of print. I personally have no attachment to the 2003 series but the disrespect towards it from Aniplex of America is baffling.
>>
You know Brotherhoodfags are cooked when their best argument is saying that it's more faithful to manga like that's a good thing.
>>
>>282662066
It is a good thing though (I liked the manga)
>>
>>282662066
I've always understood it to be that the 2003 series is harder to get into if you've already seen Brotherhood. That was the case for me at least.
>>
It might be for the sake of brand consistency (don't want casuals getting confused by two very similar TV shows), except they haven't really done anything with the franchise since Brotherhood ended
>>
>>282662353
I don't use MAL
>>
They need to the same thing to the anime version of Akame ga Kill and adapt the manga's ending
>>

03 had dogshit writing so yes. Only your contrarian hipster ass got cooked.

Isn't that the guy who spams Selim smut whenever someone dares to criticize muh brotherhood? It's insane how much FMA 2003 mindbreaks brotherhood fags

There are hundreds of shows you can't watch anymore. Take Yumeria for example. Shit show, and you can't watch or buy it anymore.

You have no fucking clue how licenses work. They don't just act forever. Aniplex likely let the license expire and they legally can't make it anymore.
>>
>>282662664
Aniplex of Japan owns the anime dummy. With very few exceptions they've been licensing shows their shows to the American division exclusively for the past ten years.

Beating le god with power of friendship punchies and contrived bullshit isn't "kino shonen final battles", stfu and kill yourself
>>
>>282662711
If you think Animplex of Japan is the sole owner, you're retarded. Try telling the bands who's works you'd be printing how they don't deserve any money.
>>
>>282662751
No, but god losing to an army orchestrating a coup is "kino shonen final battle" certainly is. Learn to get better taste you faggot
>>
>>282662764
Aniplex owns the anime. Bones animated it. Please enlighten me on any other companies that own SPECIFICALLY the anime. Not the manga.

They. Don't. Own. The. Music.
>>
>>282662917
Yes they do. Aniplex is also the biggest anime music label. Of course they would use their own music.
>>
>>282662459
What don't you like about it?
>>
>>282662944
So the bands who sign with Animplex get no royalties whenever their music is used? That's what you're saying?

You are functionally retarded.

2003 is better right up until Hughes dies because the episodes are better paced and give time to develop the characters.

2003 is worse after that because they ran out of content to adapt and started to build their own terribad original story.

Brotherhood is worse up until that pivotal scene because they intentionally skimmed that part because everyone already watched 2003. After that, it settles into more natural pacing and becomes a very good adaptation.

I would actually argue that 03 handled the beginning better than the manga. That pivotal character death actually happens really early in the manga. There's not much time for us to get attached to him, whereas 03 spaced out the scenes (and might have added a few with some of the filler episodes). The 03 pacing made it really impactful - he wouldn't be a 4chan banner if hadn't been done so well.

Any royalties would likely be a pittance. Regardless, Aniplex of America still holds the license for both 2003 and Brotherhood they aren't doing anything with the 2003 series. Brotherhood is readily available by various means. The 2003 series isn't. If the license were up for grabs and Aniplex of Japan were willing to give it to another distributor I'm sure Crunchyroll (formerly FUNimation) would love to have it back. That's never going to happen though.

I'm not going to waste my time explaining all the nuances of licensing since you clearly fundamentally don't understand how it works. Go fuck yourself. I won't be responding further.

>>282663010
It's too bad the shows were produced so relatively close together (only 5 years between the end of 03 and the start of Brotherhood). If there was more time in between they might not have rushed the beginning of Brotherhood so much.
That said I didn't dislike the original direction 03 took. There were definitely some major plot holes and the Shamballa movie was weak and a cash grab, but it was an interesting idea and felt like a fully thought out storyline rather than just making up filler.
It's funny though if you compare to AoT, which opted for a long 4 year break between seasons to let the manga get ahead rather than go anime original. If FMA had been broken up into more seasons with a year or two gap in between they might have been able to adapt the whole manga in one long series and complete it in less total years than it took AoT.

As a manga reader, I always knew that Hughes' death wasn't some epic emotional culmination of a character. It's the first piece of the conspiracy puzzle that would haunt the Elrics for a while. In my opinion his death in manga/FMAB is just as effective, but in a different way.
>>
>>282662033
It's funny to think of it because nobody would stfu about it when it was new like it was the biggest shit ever when it turned out to be a FOTM in the end.
>>
>>282662353
Is this one of the worst shonen finale battles? I don't know how anyone can think treating the final villain like a punching bag while everyone else plays cheerleader is a good thing.
>>
>>282663712
Totally forgot. I guess there's always the chance old shows get new readaptations even nowadays.

This is done because they don't want to confuse branding.
That's it. It's purely an Aniplex decision done to keep the most current franchising point relevant.
