Sorry for the late ch spoilers.
When Gorilla reaches the designated point he finds Rasen (Wehrloss) bathing in ice water. He's speechless since he should freeze to death bathing in the icy water. He told him to get out quickly and warmed him by the fire. He complains the Wolff is inhuman ordering such a harsh location for their infiltration. Rasen replies that there's nothing they could do since he would be easily recognized. Gorilla retorted that his portraits and statues had long since been destroyed, so no one would remember what he looks like. He groused that despite Rasen being a hero of the empire, he was being subjected to such treatment that would ensure he would never be remembered by the masses. Rasen reassures him and they go on the move.
After crossing a dangerous path, Gorilla marveled at Rasen's constitution, as he crossed the difficulet terrain with ease, never slowing down. He remarked that his endurance is astounding. Rasen replied "Isn't that normal for a warrior?". Gorilla snorted and retorded that is most certainly was not normal, and thought Rasen was being absurd for suggesting he's the standard to measure against. Gorilla asked him why he's say such a thing. Rasen explained that it was his old friend's catchphrase. Before meeting his friend, Rasen had fancied himself the mightiest warrior among mankind. But his friend taught him that a warrior's pride and fearlessness in the face of death could prove a fatal flaw. He flashed back to meeting Eizen and being defeated by him. He credits Eizen's teaching with keeping him alive to this point.

He then recalled other times he faced death but Eizen's guidence calmed his mind, allowing him to survive. He flashes back to fighting Rivalle here and catching a spear with both hands that was going to impale his face. Spoiler guy notes Rivalle has the scar from the goddess monument fight, so it's after that.
Gorilla didn't believe him and said Rasen was simply looking for a battlefield on which to die with honor. Rasen snorted and said that they hadn't known each other long enough for Gorilla to reach that conclusion. Gorilla replies that it's been eight years, and that's not a short time at all. Rasen stroked his beard before replying. He'd long thought that only Eizen, humanity's strongest warrior, could kill him, but time waits for no one and they were becoming old men.
Then he asked Gorilla if he'd ever met Lowe. He said they met once at Wolff's request, and he marveled at Lowe's amazing strength. Rasen questioned if Lowe's strength was merely "amazing". He stated that Lowe had long since surpassed such strength and reached a level of strength that fightened him when they first met. Yet, even someone as powerful as Lowe said he was prepared to sacrifice his life here. With that in mind, they could only imagine how monstrous the foes they were up against were.

Nearby, Falsch was crouching and listening to their conversation. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of monsters Rasen was talking about as he felt they couldn't hold a candle to Rasen. When he first saw Rasen, he thought a demon general had come and was startled. Rasen's demeanor no longer seemed human and it was as if he'd taken countless lives. He thought it was no wonder that Rasen approached from underground, as if he had arrived from the front the security team would have spotted and been on him in an instant. Falsch had learned about this passage from Serie's archives and has scouted it in advance.
The last time he'd seen the shadow warriors doing reconnainssance here, he hadn't had their dossier portraits yet. (back when he followed Iris and Routine underground several chapters ago). Due to circumstances back then he could not tail them, but he hadn't imagined they'd send a monster like Rasen down this route. Although spying here was very risky, he'd learned important intel. The shadow warrior without a portrait was their leader, Lowe.
As he thought about Lowe's name, he recalled that the governor of the empire's most northern territory shared that name. And that according to Lineal's information, Lowe was a cadet noble who had distinguished himself in covert operations for the empire in the southern countries. Thinking about this, Falsch had a bad feeling.

As the duo walked past his hiding place, he thought that the best course of action was to regroup with Frieren and the others to take these two on together. Suddenly, Rasen excalaimed that he heard breathing and Falsch froze. Gorilla wondered if it was that "damned store manager" since he's as stealthy as a thief. Rasen replies that he thought so too at first, but he could hear an accelerated heartbeat suggesting it was an enemy.
Falsch's hand nearly touched the ground, when Rasen, not facing him, yelled out not to move a muscle or he'd kill him without mercy. Falsch immediately touched the ground to cast a spell and instantly Rasen cut off his right hand sending it flying through the air. As his hand hits the ground Rasen already has his spear at his throat. Rasen retorted, "didn't I tell you not to move? Do it again and I'll take your head". Falsch answered back with a bitter smile "There will be a next time?" "I guess we can communicate. How reassuring."

End of chapter.

If someone outleagues another in term of power then what prevents a mass genocide of those on the top against those lower than them?
This is the inherent flaw of making a world where strenght is not in the same general ballpark.
Imagine if irl humans were like this.
The malice of the superior humans abusig the normal populace would never end.
>>
>>282662358
To be fair, that did happen. The "people at the top" just happen to be demonkind. And they proceeded to genocide almost everyone for a thousand years until they were finally beaten back.

It’s nice that we’re finally seeing human antagonists — BUT I’m really concerned that the SW will end up being red herrings, none o them will die / be fought seriously by Frieren’s group, and it’ll either be demons ONCE AGAIN, or it’ll resolve peacefully.

Because look it started to get sort o cartoonish that in this big politically complex world in which the Demon King has been dead and his army defunct for nearly a century that demons STILL have to completely carry the antagonist role. It’s ESPECIALLY bad because even elite demons are no match for the literal kids in Frieren’s party, let alone Frieren herself so the plot had to keep finding Greater Demons to fight for there to be any kind of tension. It even restored to TIME TRAVEL to ind powerful demons to fight. Can none of these super great modern human mages be a villain?

Human arcs suck and this one proves that again.

They're really hyping up Lowe I see.

>reminder that Lowe claimed that his face would be the last Serie would ever see but Serie never sees the face of the person who kills her in her visions
It's not him.

There could be a scenario where she sees Lowe while someone cuts her head from behind
>>
>>282669097
I hope not. We had enough fake outs and "achually I already cast an illusion spell or something" bs.
>>
I wonder if the Slacht thing is just another red herring. Because Serie made it clear that her own future sight magic is super limited so that leaves a lot of loopholes the author could exploit to explain why Serie survives and fate changes.
>>
Also, the author ABSOLUTELY has some big reveal planned, this arc is going too far for there not to be. It’s not going to be some noble rando and his gang of SWs who get defeated and both sides agree to get along.

So how mad you would be if suddenly characters started to drop dead only to be revealed in a later chapters' cold open to be Serie looking into the 'bad future'?

I would be….a little mad, even though I knew I should have kept such a lame possibility firmly in mind given this manga’s track record. It’s just so easy to detach from the reality of the plot and go off into better directions in headcanon.

The demons are the only interesting thing about Frieren. It’s that standard isekai enemy race but examined from the point of view of exploring how they operate as sentient beings. It asks the question “How would these NPC enemies from a JRPG live in reality"?

Where is the chappy dump?

Schlacht had the strongest future sight of all. As they told us he could se "all possible futures, up to a thousand years in the future". Like Solitar said, even they couldn't comprehend the mind of someone who had witnessed near infinite realities.
