It's different in tone, less spokon-ish and more goofy, with sports drama here and there. There is more focus on the career than the races by themselves.
Even each season of Pretty Derby are different from the others in tone. They are all fun but it has to be your thing.
The OAV and the Movie are right in between Pretty Derby and Cinderella Gray.
