Gen 8 was so messy that both the anime and manga started way later than the games actual release. The ashnime just totally ended. GF also skipped a year and didn't release a new game in 2024, which would make gen 9 last 4 years instead of the usual 3.Then there was a major leak late 2024 which revealed some details about gen 10. They could delay it some more and change things up a little so everything doesn't get spoilt online. There are a lot of unknowns this time, so nobody can say for sure what's going to happen. It's possible TPC might have realised their model wasn't sustainable and are giving things more time now.
