Just finished the Alabsata arc...and I'm still not seeing what makes One Piece "one of the greatest pieces of literature ever". I've enjoyed my time reading it, but I as of now it's still just nothing but a decent shounen to me. People told me that I would fall head over heels with it by Alabasta, but that didn't happen. It's still just...fine. And I've had to read through over 200 chapters of "fine". I'm not sure I'm willing to give another 800+ chapters my time if all I've been consistently getting is "fine". Should I drop it?
just keep reading it you retard
>>282736605why
>>282736644Does it matter, keep reading
>>282736566read the next 200 chapters if you don't like it by then drop it
bgd
>>282736566>one of the greatest pieces of literature ever".haha, very funny anon. I, too, see that it still haven't gotten stale to call OP slop. mm could it get good 1000 eps in.
>>282736566fuck off we're full
hrh
>>282736566Go away. We're gatekeeping OP from retards like you.
Stick to JJK kiddo
>>282736566Who the fuck thinks it's 'one of the greatest pieces of literature ever'? It's a fucking shonen manga OP, be reasonable.
>>282738398>Who the fuck thinks it's 'one of the greatest pieces of literature ever'?Like 90% of One Piece fans
>>282736566I was in the same boat as you until the CP9 arc. That's the first time you truly get a sense of what the actual overarching plot of One Piece is, and where the story ultimately seems to be heading. Also the first time Luffy is legitimately cool character-wise.
>>282738825>I was in the same boat as you until the CP9 arcJesus, it takes that long to get good? And people don't consider this a problem?
>>282738915>And people don't consider this a problem?Maybe if they have ADHD
>>282738915I mean most people consider the earlier parts good too, but the sense that you're getting into something much more than your standard shonen isn't really there until then.If you go into it expecting to be blown away right off the bat then yeah you'll be disappointed. It's a slow burn, too much for its own good sometimes, but the way it integrates the slower earlier parts into the larger narrative and makes them feel way more important later on is something that really caught me off guard. Love it or hate it, it certainly displays a tighter grasp of literary techniques than many of its contemporaries.
it's better than naruto and bleach, probably better than dragon ball, in shonenshit rankings it's objectively the best.I can understand one piece glazing until marineford, but everything after is mid.
Itβs all good OP, people still don't get the Odyssey to this day. Not everyone can have reading comprehension, JJK or HxH might be more your speed, Naruto if you want a classic.
>>282739452>Better than Dragon BallCome on now; Dragon Ball is considered one of the best manga for good reason
>>282736566Answered your own question didn't it? The real question is why you need /a/nons to give you a push
>>282736566If you didn't love Alabasta just drop it.
>>282736566What do you think is fine about it? What do you think it is lacking? In my opinion, it is wrong to go into One Piece without tempering your expectations of what fans say it will eventually become and just enjoy it in the moment. But if you treat it seriously and keep a note of things here and there, then there is an abundance of HUGE payoffs further down the line when everything starts to connect.
>>282736566>"one of the greatest pieces of literature ever"Who the fuck says this. It's a good adventure story with shonen tropes that gets progressively better up till the timeskip then falls of a cliff and get shittier up until Wano when it becomes ultimately garbage.Read it or don't, who cares.
>>282736566Its gets good in about 400 more chapters, then it goes back to mid until 500 more. But i guess adhdbabies will get filtered
>>282736566>you ate into hype and poisoned yourself>it's already shown where it's going, you;re into this or not
>>282736566>and I'm still not seeing what makes One Piece "one of the greatest pieces of literature ever"Err, nothing lol, nobody calls it that. It's a shonenslop for kids.
