Yachihos problem is that her power either instantly 1 shots the enemy, or does nothing, with no in between, which isn't conducive to exciting shounen battles where fighters are expected to clash with their abilities and slowly wear each other down. That's why every fight she's in (or fights where Himari is copying her power) she's relegated to constantly rewinding time to undo people dying or getting severely injured, so we the viewer can watch big dramatic attacks hit but without there being any consequences, and so Yachiho doesn't just stop time and shoot the enemy in the head to instantly kill them.

EXCEPT things developed, an over time these characters were revealed to be:1) A genuinely admirable boss who cares for all her underlings, looks after them, and enables Yuuki to achieve pretty much all his A-D objectives (in the case of his sister, well beyond his initial hopes) thus inspiring genuine hero worship in him.2) A trustworthy partner and co-worker who shares his admiration for Kyouka and whom he regularly gets to, like, 3.5th base3) Local bully not so tough since falling in love and becoming comic relief4) NeiThus, his confrontational bent disappeared because what the fuck does he have to be confrontational about anymore? He's doing something useful, is constantly in action, saved his sister and is basically the Corps' communal sex toy. And he'd come off as an asshole rather than sympathetic if he didn't express at least some mild hesitation at the magic-induced ass-tonguing he (however indirectly) inflicts on these women he considers friends and allies.If you want Yuuki to remain a bitter underdog, your problem is simply that the cast is too likeable for him to act like that and not come off as an ungrateful douche.
