D.Gray-man anime is 19 years old today. Feel old yet?
I remember watching and liking it for awhile but soon got tired of all the filler with the plot not moving an inch, I think the anime went into filler in under 5-10 episodes plus I had a whole bunch of other long running shows to watch at the time. Hearing about the constant hiatuses from the manga only added more reasons to drop the anime. I kind of miss it though, it was peak core 2000's shounen.

>>282751343>>282751343In general I don't recommend skipping filler in D.Gray-man because 1) some episodes are made in a way that affects the canon and 2) some expand on some events that felt very rushed in the manga, so they add to the experience. If you want a brief rundown in the filler of the anime, here's a small guide:>Episodes 14-18 are the most skippable episodes, basically small short stories that are seldom referenced later on>Episodes 25-26 are technically filler since the events are anime-only, but they're basically an expansion of a manga event, so I recommend watching those>Episodes 27-35 are weird because they're a mixture of canon and filler, basically dealing with the protagonists travelling back and forth through the world, so skipping all of them can make you confused. Episode 32 is easily the most skippable and uneventful one; episodes 29-30 and 33-34 each adapt chapters from the light novels of the series, so there’s that; episode 35 is 100% anime-original, but it flesh out a certain character that has a key role later on in canon material, so I especially recommend watching that one>Episodes 36-39 aren’t filler per se, but are again the expansion of a canon event in the manga, with episode 37 delving in the story of a side character who doesn’t get to do much in canon, so you better watch those; episode 40 acts as some sort of epilogue for the whole thing before the start of the following arc>Episodes 41-50 are entirely filler, I would recommend skipping them if it wasn’t for the fact they add an antagonist who later appears in canon with the show fully expecting to know them by that point thanks to the filler, so I recommend watching it mainly for thatFrom the 51st episode onwards the show has zero filler and only covers canon material.

It has been a mystery for me for 10 years, but what the fuck happened after they assaulted the flying city of the bad guys or something?I mean, I remember that the katana guy had a clone made of him or it was his childhood friend or something, and his body was degrading?The plot suddenly got very trippy, and art changed so much I couldn't fucking recognize anyone. Every new chapter was like having a stroke so I dropped it. I think the author got into an accident or something? That explains the art, but what happened with the story and where did it got after?

His past lover also went through the same process (in a male body so the fujo crowd could be pleased), went insane and had to be put down by katana man because (s)he tried to kill him so he couldn't learn the truth of her identity.Afterwards main character abandon the Exorcists after being attacked by a pedo priest and then is possessed by the Noah inside him. We learn the main baddie is actually the foster father of the main character in a sequence of schizoid chapters that end with the protagonist returning after some faggot scientist calls his name or something like that. Then we get two flashbacks, one about the protagonist meeting his adoptive dad in his childhood and another telling how he was deaged from an adult and turned into an Exorcist by the pedo priest, with the most recent chapter returning to the present.
