Overall a 8/10 adaptation. It would be 7/10 if we count all the stuff they skipped that pays off later on, but as a standalone season, it's 8/10, good.Overall, the pace was definitely a bit too fast. I didn't think of it before, but Silent Witch is a novel that, unfortunately for this adaptation, relies a lot on tiny details. It has this setup where the basic premise, a lot of scenes and most characters are seemingly pretty generic (or archetypical) and then uses the tiny details and space to flesh everything out and make it more interesting. A lot of depth in the story comes from seemingly throwaway conversations or the way Monica thinks through her actions. If you cut that away, the story still stays good, because it's fundamentally sound, but everything loses depth. To every character and most worldbuilding details, there are these little twists and subtle foreshadowing that make them more interesting. These are often lost in anime.But I can't blame them much. The studio probably didn't have a choice on what the pace is, and honestly, I do think that a cour on 2 novels might have been too slow. Maybe 2.5 novels, that is, until Bernie, would have been ideal? Most of Mira, Bartholomeo and Ike is setup for later novels anyway, so it might be nice to begin S2 with it.And overall the direction wasn't bad. It lost stuff, but the most important parts were preserved.After seeing first few episodes of Lord of the Mysteries, another adaptation I was looking forward to, I can't be too hard on this one. At least here, the cuts seem well thought out and, most importantly, the atmosphere stays the same. As long as it still feels like I'm watching the same story, I can forgive a lot of shuffling events around, but with LOTM it didn't even feel like the same genre. It made me appreciate Silent Witch adaptation more.

Was a good show, magic power system didn't seem very consistent though. One minute she's nuking dragons out of the sky, another she's exhausted to the point of fainting from putting one guy to sleep. The rest of the show felt like it followed the latter rules and she basically was exhausted every time the battle was finished regardless of what she actually did during it.
