>dude Jojo isn't that great, you just need to read/watch more stuff!>many titles and years laterAnd Jojo is still the most original and overall my favourite, Utena and early Berserk are my other faves. But literally every shonen sucks so hard compared to pre part 7 Jojo. Why is shonen such fucking garbage as a genre??
Part 8 retroactively ruins every other part
>>282790876This, we don't talk about parts 8 and 9. I like to pretend they simply don't exist
>>282790845Gintama (arcs near the end), hxh (boat arc) and world trigger (space brothers arc) are better than part 7 JoJo for me and are extremely rereadable with deepening understanding on each go but part 7 JoJo is probably #4
>>282791395Part 7 is seinen though
>>282790845Watching more anime and reading more manga just made me love JoJo more. There really is nothing as good as it, even JoJo at it's absolute worst (3/4 of JoJolion) is better then most manga and anime out there.
>>282791395I tried Gintama but it's way too Japanese for me. Over half the jokes go right over my head and I don't want to stop reading every 2 pages to do research so I dropped it.
>>282790845>And Jojo is still the most originallmao, read more manga
>>282790845>Why is shonen such fucking garbage as a genre??That's your problem, read something other than manga marketed for young boys.
>>282790845>But literally every shonen sucks so hard compared to pre part 7 Jojo. Why is shonen such fucking garbage as a genre??Have you considered reading something besides manga marketed at little boys?
>>282790876Good thing I've never read it (or 7) then.
>>282792018The jokes aren't even the best part the character writing and stories are imo. The references don't really matter per se you can just infer a bit on what they're joking about and that's good enough if you don't want to go full autismo googling mode>>282791581I'm counting all manga here
Jojo just got old to me and part 8's ending didn't help. I'd started reading the series in like 2009 or 2010 and had to wait for better translations of parts 4 and 5. Then watched through the anime and watched parts 5 and 6 as they came out. I still do like the series in general but I don't really feel like engaging with it as much as I did in the past. And between the manga taking a nosedive with part 8 and part 6's anime being significantly worse than the previous parts (not to mention the poor looking part 7 trailer recently) it's just not really anything that's got me gripped anymore. I'm not reading part 9 right now, but I'll probably still watch the part 7 anime when it comes out. Maybe it's more to me just a limitation on how long I want to be heavily involved in conversation about a manga than anything else.
>>282794322You should read 7. It's the best Jojo arc unironically. Just pretend everything after it doesn't exist.
>>282790845>jojo>utena>berserkzoomer troon tier taste, please hang yourself asap
