I've seen people diminish Evangelion by saying that watching it for the first time when you aren't a teenager makes it hit less, but I don't think that really diminishes it. Missing out on experiencing the pure KINO of watching Eva as a teen is kinda the same as missing out on sex as a teen, the limited time window doesn't change the fact that they're among the greatest thing humanity can experience.
