First off, no misunderstandings: I actually rate Demon Slayer as an exciting series overall. But seriously, why did it explode in popularity like this? The story's solid but nothing groundbreaking. The anime fights are god-tier, hands down—but is that really the only hook?

Episode 19 became viral in Japan, leading to it getting good production values in the next seasons.
>>
>>282813614
I liked it before it was animated
I am not afraid to say it's actually kinda trash but I love it anyways
I cannot for the life of me tell you what the appeal is
>>

Yes, animation is important in anime. Especially a fighting one, it mogged other big battle shonen at the time in animation. The anime then proceeded to give a boost to manga sales. The characters are cute and it is about Japanese folklore so that will appeal to japs more

The west, the anime had been growing in Japan since it started and exploded after it ended.

No one gives a shit about the west, ホワイトピッグ。

Don't forget soundtrack. It really elevated the fights.

So then your original post was retarded, because it didn't randomly become viral in Japan

Good production and while I haven't finished the manga, I could say it doesn't seem terrible the way the story is going...?
Like, most series so close to finishing as Kimetsu anime currently is, usually deflate and become utterly terrible.
Kimetsu still results exciting from what I've seen.
Not sure if quality (story wise) will dive, but considering next movie main fight (The first pillar) is apparently one of the best, and the last movie will be about Muzan, we won't get chance of feeling "god this became crap". If it happens in the third movie, then it will be already too late because that's the end of the story.

It became an anime women openly watch and because women watch it weak men can watch it too without being afraid women will hate them for it.

Because it's an okay babby's first anime, good for dubwatchers and zoomers just getting into anime. It doesn't require too much knowledge of Japanese culture.
I realised something recently, maybe it's just my lack of social skills but a lot of people who watch anime don't actually care about what they're watching. They don't care if it's shounen or seinen or whatever. They don't even care much about the actual story, action, animation, or emotional aspect either. They mostly watch anime to socially connect with other people who watch anime (or any other hobby). They don't care what they watch, they don't care if they like it or not.

It's a form of modern day tribalism i guess. A low effort, low involvement banner or tribe many people can get under and feel like they belong somewhere, in small ways. Take my neighbours kid, he has watched this anime, never read the manga, never watched any anime that's not mainstream and yet he owns tshirts and hoodies related to the anime. It's a need to signal to others, not a genuine interest in the hobby itself.

I'm a scatterbrain so I'm into a lot of hobbies (electronics, mechanical design, programming) and these people are always there, more interested in talking to other people and seeking validation than practicing the hobby itself. It's a shame, they never see the medium as anything but a gateway to gain social interaction. This is also why there are a lot more women. They never appreciate the intricacies of the hobby

Women like it. You can't go viral without being loved by female fans. Like look at all of the big name artists in jp currently, they are all very popular with female, maybe even more than with male

This is pretty cope-ish. Compared to typical shonen fantasy words where you don't even have to be able to keep track of Japanese names taisho japan is something that weebs would have been proud of giving a shit about 10-15 years ago. KnY has white normalfag women watching the sub and remembering "Tomioka" and "Shinobu"
>>
>>282816607
KnY is objectively bad though. Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi is very Japanese and also objectively good. Why is that not popular?
>>
>>282817573
TES is bad dude, it's completely fumbling the ending and no amount of
>he fucked his harem
will make it ok

The story is easy to follow with tried and true themes and the fights are well animated. That's it.
>>

Is Dragon Ball's story outstanding? Why do people need some incredible reason?

I don't agree with this. How many times did it pull the 'Oh no you cut my head off. Lol, jk' bullshit?
>>
>>282813614
I know exactly why it exploded in popularity but Im not telling you.
