>>282816330No idea what that site is?I never buy anything digital legally unless it's games.
>>282816517A Japan-owned manga-reading site with a subscription model. Their front page blasts you with 'teen love' and BL (they merged with Futekiya - a big provider of BL, some years ago), but they have plenty of niche josei/seinen/old shoujo/shounen manga they've house-translated and which is unavailable elsewhere (not even on manga pirate sites, cause rippers don't care for such titles).
Say goodbye to the complete translations of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Sakigake! Otokojuku, because you won't be seeing them ever again, /a/.
I will also miss this cat/SoL manga.
>>282816330What a shame
>>282816330>various circumstances like recent restrictions from payment processors and the changing online landscapeThank you Burgerland
>>282816330am I supposed to care?make a thread when Mangahot or Mangaone shut down
>2024DLsite content becomes geo-restricted.Manga Library Z shut down (donations brought it back).Melonbooks payments dropped.>2025Manga Planet plans to shut down. This payment processor trend goes back over a decade, which is quite the rabbit-hole.
>>282817194It needs to accelerate so the japs would gain awareness and willingness to ACT. unlikely, since they're an unofficial vassal state of USA and making a new payment processor is an act of rebellion.
>>282817222Did japanese normalfags switch to visa/mastercard these days? I thought they have their own local-only payment processors.
>>282817316mainly for small payment at physical stores like for grocery, canteen and everyday stuff.digital goods, big payment and international payment still rely on CCC mafia
>>282817194>>282817222But if every localizer shuts down, will nobody file a legit dmca ever again?
>>282817482this is not a localizer problem. japan is being censored straight from source. just like what's been happening to their vidya industry for a while.
has anyone made a complete rip?
>>282817194No Japanese company is safe. >>282817316They have JCB plus a multitude of pay apps/7-11-in-store pay etc., so they don't care.
>>282817574Of the whole catalogue? You jest, sir. BTW, here's the priority tag.
>check batoto>only has 13 out of 17 volumesYeah, this one isn't getting a full fan translation for sure.
>>282818381>batoto
>>282817222There's a lot of domestic Japanese payment services. The bigger issue are Apple and Google and their advertisers. Manga publishers nowadays need to offer ad-supported manga reading as an alternative to piracy and the app store rules are so unclear that they rather censor the shit out of everything than risk getting their apps removed. The volumes are still uncensored and magazines bought with money have the usual level of censorship but you can expect some authors avoiding certain content instead.Side loading or alternative app stores wouldn't solve that problem.
>>282819665Yeah, no.
>>282820155>batotoFind a better source retard
>>282816330>buy manga>money stolenWOW
>>282820296That's why I'll never 'buy' anything digital if I can't download it. Subscribing to read as much manga as a I can is fine (sort of like a manga cafe), but there is no 'ownership' of anything that can only be accessed online.
>>282817194>>282817222It's a shame JCB apparently gave up on US cards in 2018. Would've been useful now.
>>282819821While it wouldn't solve all that much since there would still be advertising and payment processing issues, but uncensored content compared to a censored app store app would be a good incentive to get users to sideload an uncensored app (be it for manga or gacha) to bypass app store fees if free to publishers sideloading support was legally required for Android and Apple.
>>282822988They don't have a presence outside of Asia.
>>282823080https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JCB_(credit_card_company)>Local JCB accounts in the United States were issued by JCB USA, and offered to residents of California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. JCB USA stopped issuing JCB cards in the American market on January 8, 2018, and closed all current consumer credit card accounts on April 30, 2018.
>>282816608>not even on manga pirate sites, cause rippers don't care for such titlesOh, that's bad.I don't read BL but it sucks if this was the only avenue you could get translation from.
>>282823060The problem is the advertisers that are tied to the app stores.Manga that's only available for money or via subscriptions like magazines or volumes doesn't have further censorship anyway. But they need the ads to make the "free" chapter reading viable and they aren't going to get advertisers on an alternative app store that easily.
>>282817451>mainly for small payment at physical stores like for grocery, canteen and everyday stuff.Source?
>>282825541The double whammy is losing translations of manga that is both BL AND old, meaning no scanlation group ever touches it.
>>282817222They're acting by gatekeeping the content from (You). Who can blame them from restricting content from annoying polfag gaijins and countries that can't handle it?
>>282826479I remember when some hentai games got cancelled in Japan like 15 years ago, because gaijin complained. Back to the past, fuck this shit.
>>282826647This shit has happened since the 80s even without foreigners getting involved. Look at 177 or Saori.
