All of it was basically at their objectives, rather than towards each other past the initial hurdles. And if your main characters are dull and aren't interacting with each other in interesting ways, literal sisters and a cousin end up feeling like a bunch of buddy buddy acquaintances rather than distinct entities with their own goals and clashes. Even when the old gang was all about fucking Naraku up at least there was a fuckin totem pole of the bunch fucking with each other that literally wrote the book on anime ragtag groups.
